  1. Yeah, he is my favorite singer by far. Ya don't have any idea what kind of compliment it is to hear that somehow I reminded you of him! Thank you!!!!
  2. Ok, so the other one was so horrible because I had an extra EQ in there - and I have no odea where it came from. This should be much better. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11603253&q=hi&newref=1
  3. Ok, you've talked me in to it. Have some homework and my workout to do. If there is anything left in me, I'll record it today lol.
  4. The high scream (BUILD... ME...UP) and (BREAK... ME..... DOWN) is not going to be fun. He did that voice once before in Octavarium at the end.. Sometimes I sit around and wonder how the heck he does some of that stuff!
  5. I actually have that backing track lol. It's super mega hard to sing, but next time I record, I'll give it a shot. ~Keith
  6. I am running out of backing tracks lol! I am thinking about doing some of their newer songs though .
  7. Glad you got pillars, i love the program. If you haven't already, try to get a Skype lesson with Rob. Like many others, (and myself), start at the beginning . Learn the basics. Find your head voice , learn support, do the breathing excersizes religiously. I think the pitchy parts of the song will go away once you get used to supporting.
  8. Thank you sir. Lots of pitchy places, but I always do one take of the main vocals so I know what I need to work on. I gathered up some testicles and posted Metropolis Part I LOL - I am mortified about it, but it really shows what I am having issues with, like your books says "stop hitting notes, and start singing them!" I hit a ton of high notes in it, but I don't sing them.. I am trying still to get a more "open" tone up there. It is going to take lots of work! Thank god my band is not capable of playing such songs! ~Keith
  9. I have the backing track for that song.... That's a tough one. Grats for posting it man. Not bad at all!
  10. Just listened to it in my car, gawd what a horrible mix I'm gonna have to re do the whole thing. But, not for a little while. Got lots of homework and another show to get ready for!
  11. Thanks for listening guys. And, there isn't any sense in posting something that I know I can nail, cause then I wouldn't learn anything lol.
  12. Threw this one together just to see how it would sound. I didnt spend any amount of time mixing, and I know the backing vocs are a little funny, but I just don't have time to mess with them. Hope ya like it - and any critiques would be fantastic. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11600394&q=hi&newref=1
  13. Thanks for listening everyone. Yes, it's a monster for sure!
  14. One thing that bugs me about my voice in this song (the higher parts) is that it lacks something. It's thin tone annoys me. I am about pressing my tongue through the floor of my mouth on some of these notes, but I can feel the space in my throat get smaller as I ascend. Its like the back of my tongue raises and cuts off the tone. ( I have a long tongue) and if I stick my tongue out like some do, I feel like I'm gonna gag. Then I choke off the note . Any thoughts?
  15. Thanks Ron . That pic is from a show I played at a small bar. We are playing there again Saturday last week we played a show out of town (for the first time) and some of the people there said I sounded like a Geoff Tate/James labrie hybrid lol .
  16. Quack quack quack lol. I am embarrassed to have posted this lol. So many off pitch notes LOL - Well, at least I can laugh at it :)
  17. Ok, god where do I even begin.. I finally found a cover of this song without vocals and decided (in my infinite wisdom) to learn it. Clearly, it is a really difficult song - at least for me- I am still struggling with quacking in my head voice, I am still struggling with powerful bridges (but getting better), and I get real tired singing stuff like this. I hope I get some constructive advise on my appraoch to learning this one. I will say this, I could not sing a lot of these notes before I started Roberts programl - The Parthenon was not built overnight... Please be gentle lol
  18. Holy crap, it sounds like alanis and halford had a love child sounds pretty Kewl man!
  19. You can sing whatever genre you want to. There are a combination of things going on in the recording making it very difficult to really hear enough for me (personally) to critique you. Sounds like you are using a computer mic and somewhat overloading it. I suggest when recording yourself to use a real vocal mic - so that your voice gets reproduced properly. Your voice most likely sounds 100X better that this nrecording represents. The only critique I would have is to work on support on your lower notes.
  20. Awesome! Love you use of closed Bowles on the real high notes towards the end. Also, great vibrato !
