Yeah, Rob, the guys voted on it. It's cool to have a song this popular in the challenge.

This month's song for our Gospel challenge will be Amazing Grace! How sweet does that sound?!
As usual, backing tracks can be found in the following link:

This one ends on September 28th.

This months Pop challenge will be Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran!

Let's get it rolling. It ends on September 28th.

This appears to be the first time we've had every single song get votes. This means we had a great selection. However, the one that won it this time is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran!
-
The people have spoken! Amazing Grace it is!
-
As usual, vote for a song other than what you suggested. Voting will be open for 4 days.

Oh, by the way, do you think it would be possible to edit song titles into prior month's challenge topics?
July RnB - Let's Stay Together (Al Green)
Or something. I think it would be cool if people could browse and find a song they were interested in and participate in the challenge even if it wasn't current. As is, a bunch of months with genres will be increasingly tough to capture and maintain an onlookers interest.
Yes, that's a good idea.

My suggestions:
For Pop, Selfless, Cold and Composed by Ben Folds
And probably the most popular "Pop" song of this past year or so, Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
For Gospel
Precious Lord
Not sure who this is by, but there are tons of expressions of this
The other song I was going to mention already got suggested here.
-
A nice array of suggestions. Let's give it one more day and then get going.
-
This time, we're doing Pop and Gospel. You can suggest up to 2 songs for each genre. Let's go for 4 days.
-
Alrighty, looks like it's going to be Pop and Gospel!
-
Don't you mean Gospel and Jazz? These last few months have been a real pain and I haven't had time to participate. I still love the idea of having a challenge and I want you to know that you have done a fine job moderating this. I hope things pick up in the coming months and we get more people submitting their projects.
I did mean Gospel and Jazz. It was a long day, LOL. Thank you. Yes, there's been a recent change, so I'm expecting things to pick up.
Gsoul keep it up. I wholeheartidly promise to participate this time. Also keep it to just 1 genre.
2 are too much because of the disparity. People choose the favourite choice and dont do both.
Thank you for the support. If you really can find the time to take part, do that. I know how busy things can get for people, out of nowhere.
The ideal is to get people to do both, but. realistically, sometimes, that's not possible for some. Still, there are those people who won't do the challenge, if it's a certain song. The two-song system helps to catch those people.
-
So, it looks like we've got a tie here. Pop will be one genre, but Gospel and Jazz are tied. I'm going to give it one more day, and then, if those two are still tied, I'll have to do another random selection to decide.
-
Only got 4 votes? We can do better than that! Let's give this some more time. We'll try 4 more days.
-
Hey all,
I apologize for coming a few days late with this; I had gotten caught up with work stuff.
Here are the choices for this month:
Pop
Country
Gospel
Jazz
Folk
Blues
Just to keep track of what we've done so far, we've done Rock, Country, R&B, Jazz. There are still 3 genres we haven't tried, so keep that in mind, for variety's sake.
As usual, you can sing these songs in whatever style you want, despite the genre of the song. For example, if a Tim McGraw song got chosen, at the end of the selection process, you don't have to sing a Tim McGraw song like a country artist would sing it.
The plan is below, everyone. Let's do it 8)
We are now voting for the genres we will be singing in August. We'll be doing two genres again. Voting will be open for 4 days. Voting will close on the 3rd in this case.
Voting will open for song selection on the 3rd. It will be open for 3 days. This won't be a poll. Everybody can suggest two songs for each genre, just like before. This will end on the 6th.
Voting for the challenge songs will open on the 6th, and it will run for 4 days. From August 6th to August 10th.
The challenge for July will begin on the 10th, and run until September 10th.
-
Anybody start working on this yet?
-
Great start, man!
-
I'm not a big Foo fan... but that song is good. Brings back memories. Is that the one your team chose to do GSoul?
Well, I always do a poll, and it turned out most people wanted to go with Foo Fighters.
I kind of thought everybody was going to go with Silent Lucidity, which is why I brought that one up. Guess people just weren't feeling it at the moment.
-
Nice work Gsoul... and like your profile pic.... is that you or is that Lenny Kravitz.
Thank you. Though I have been told, on a couple random occasions, that I look like this guy, it's actually not me. It's my favorite artist, Eric Benet.

This month, we're doing Let's Stay Together by Al Green!
Let's run this one until August 12th. As usual, you can upload an acapella take or a take with the instrumental in the background. The latter is greatly encouraged. You can post as many takes as you want. Just make it clear when you are posting your final version.
Need a backing track? Look here:
The process for selecting August's challenges will begin on July 25th, so be on the lookout!

This month, we're doing My Hero by The Foo Fighters!

Al Green got the most votes. Looks like we're doing "Let's Stay Together" for R&B this month! Challenge topic will be up shortly.
