Gill,
- You need to more musculature behind your singing as a general statement. This IS a falsetto mode you are singing in. It makes the voice sound weak and has a lot of instability to the configuration, which is why falsetto tends to "chirp" and "squirrel" around.
How do you fix it?
- Standard good training that would include building the strength and motor skills to twang, in particular above your bridge.
- Train the TVS onsets, Dampen & Release & Attack & Release to build stronger compression / vocalis strength. This will help give you the twang and stability.
- When you are amplifying your voice with real sound energy, not wind, you will then need to guide/direct that energy to proper resonance. Therefore, you need to understand the fundamentals about singing vowels, modification of those vowels and build enough association on how they feel through kinesthetics to also, build masterly acoustics in your singing. In your TVS system that I gave you.
In The Four Pillars of Singing you have to TRAIN! ...
- Onset Lectures
- Training Onsets
- Acoustic Modes
- Training Integrated Training Routines
- ... and then apply your new strength and motor skills to singing songs, including this one.
You have to build a voice... the apply it to songs and workout the details.

WOW !!!
Coach,
I listened to "Behind Diverted Eyes" several times now and there was just something SO SPECIAL about it. I couldn't quite figure out just what it was ??? And then, I see "...for Monica".
All of your songs are superb. No doubt about it..... We all strive to do our best in all of our songs/performances, however, I noticed MYSELF that when I dedicate a song to someone special it just STANDS OUT !!! Simply put : "Heart and Soul !!!"
EXCELLENT, Brother !!!

Hi Gill, welcome to our community!
- What I can hear in your voice sounds like it is more then lovely Gill. But can you upload one that doesn't have the other singer in the track please? It is getting in the way of our ability to hear you. Try another one that has no other singers in it.

Adolph Namlik reacted to Vahur Krautman in Michael Jackson - Give In To Me cover. Looking for brutally honest feedback.
Hi,
Looking for some feedback. With this song I constantly have the feeling that the singing is not under my full control. .This is the ~18th take over 2,5 hour period, my challenge was to get this song without major-screwups done in one go. Do I need more energy? Less energy? Am I overdoing it? Is it simply too high for me and should lower it further (I'm already down 3 semitones from the original)? What about the overall tone and emotion, does it feel to have a connection with the song? These are some of the questions I have.
Thanks!

Hi Vahur,
Welcome to our community, its great to have you here!
- First thing that comes to mind is I think your vocal effects are too much. Although I like hearing the delay on 8th note tempo, it just seems too hot in my opinion.
- I like your groove a lot. You really feel the rhythm well and have a good sense of groove and feel... that is really good.
- Honestly, I am not hearing a lot of problems with your voice technically in this performance. I think it sounds pretty cool and believe you did a great job with this. It doesn't sound too high for you and the energy is very good. I really don't see a lot here to be concerned about.
Its quite good, minus the effects... turn the effects WAY down... keep some, but bring it down and this will be perfectly tasty and groov'n.
If you would like to explore your voice more and train it to its full potential, I invite you to take a look at my program, The Four Pillars of Singing.
GREAT JOB!
Hope that helps...

You are very welcome Arvind. Thanks for sharing your feelings about the TVS program, I appreciate it. ... the community here I have built. We enjoy having good people like you in our community.
This may sound funny but, do you have The Four Pillars of Singing?

Adolph Namlik reacted to Robert Lunte in Rate my singing please ;)
Thats a good point. It is hard to really judge what you want to do, until you realistically know what you can or can't do. So really start doing it, for real, so you really know. Then you will know what you can do and we will all have more to work with to help you.
I echo Draven's comments on people learning to sing. I would say about 90% of the population CAN learn how to sing. It is a lot to do with strengthening, muscle memory, motor skills... all things that require repetition and practice. Singing is a physical sport. Get the muscles and motor skills all coordinated and "voila"! ,,,, your singing.

Yes I do. Bought it 2 yrs ago I think. Helped me a lot to understand concepts. I am lazy to do exercises. Always prefer to sing songs to scales. The community is awesome and like I said, I am both inspired and humbled to be in midst of so many great singers and coaches. It always pushes me to do better. I am 38 years old. I started singing when I was 34. I have been around in these forums for nearly as long. So yah, it has been great for me.
Kudos to you Rob and the wonderful bunch here. I know it takes a lot of effort to set up a community like this and you are all really making the world a smaller place.

It's not terrible, it's not good, but that doesn't matter. Anyone can learn to sing. You need to decide if you want to because you want to, not based upon how you currently sound. Get a pitch training app to get you started. A big part of the problem though is that you're not actually singing, but rather trying to use speech vowels with pitch. Like I Said before, anyone can learn to sing. Do you want to? If you base your decision on whether or not you sound good before even learning how to do it, then you're going to have a very frustrating pursuit of anything.
-

It is not very good.
You need training.
You can learn to sing and become good, if you train and practice.
If you are interested in getting serious and doing that, let me know.
Welcome to our forum.
