Yes. I have been referencing "shedding weight" as you ascend. But if you are already really light to start with then you dont have anything TO shed and you might have to work more to maintain air pressure and cord closure etc

SLS teaches you how to achieve cord closure but does not teach how to maintain that closure with a bigger sound. When singing for real, even when singing a lighter mass you are still using a bigger sound than Speech Level. At least do your Edit: Yes something odd is going on Here. Half of my post just got eaten.

do you also listen to music in a more syncopated manner or is it just when engaging in and performing that a closer attention and faster syncopation should be utilized?

Dance. Or if you prefer Sway with the music. On most Normal Rock, country and Jazz songs Follow the drummer and Bass guitar. I do not know what to tell you if you listen those groups with the Machine Gun  Drummers............They kill  any rhythm.     1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and......or 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4 and a ........Bass drum, Hihat, snare Hihat, Bass drum, Hihat, snare, Hihat.......................

I have been trying to feel the emotion in a song when singing it as well as blending that with creative vocal technique.  Before I was trying to use very little effort and trying to sang in ways I had previously.

I seriously love that suggestion though I hadn't thought about using that situation to express the quietness and low but at the same time high energy in the song.

If you have ever been in a situation where you were pissed off but had to be quiet and calm you will understand.

That is why I always suggest to read the lyrics and find out what the song is really about. Put yourself in that situation. Tell the story with the emotions. It is easier to remember the lyrics that way also. Dynamics are easier to control. Each verse or phrase May have it's own underlying emotion to it.

  4. Hi Collin. Your voice sounds pretty good. I have found that confidence and some sort of emotional connection to the song helps. What I mean by that is, read the words and find out what sort of message it is supposed to present and present it with the emotion intended. Usually when expressing a strong emotion you feel the energy of the emotion even if the volume is quiet there is a force behind it.

"For all the times that you rain on my parade
And all the clubs you get in using my name
You think you broke my heart, oh, girl for goodness' sake
You think I'm crying on my own. Well, I ain't

    And I didn't wanna write a song
    'Cause I didn't want anyone thinking I still care. I don't,
But you still hit my phone up
And, baby, I be movin' on
And I think you should be somethin' I don't wanna hold back,
    Maybe you should know that"

There is a lot of pent up emotion in this........ It seems this girl is using you and you know it.
It gets kind of frustrating in that kind of situation........ Even if you don't get loud, there is usually an energy that you are trying to hold back so you don't get to loud. In a situation like this you would be Pissed off and holding yourself back from yelling..........Use that energy....... it will come through in the song and maybe even ground you for pitch stability also.

Thanks Mdew, it´s true what you say about too twangy at some parts.

I think it is a product of your accent more than anything, That does not mean it is bad. I like to hear natural accents. But if you want to straighten it out a little sing a little closer to the Ah vowel instead of the i vowel. Just a little bit, too much and you get into other problems.

Hi Gsoul, thanks for stopping by man! Even though this is not my first post in the review section, I think it has been a while since I last posted something. I believe it was my attempt to "I can't make you love me (by Bonnie Raitt). I even tried both versions: in the original key and one octave lower, just for kicks... I am planning on trying it again for the challenge. Cheers

Singing in the original key is good for when you will be singing with random bands, Karaoke, or training. When you are the singer of your own group or playing the accompaniment yourself on Guitar or piano, go with the key that makes your voice shine or fits your personality.

When thinking about covering a song I will find the "original" version or the one I am most familiar with and also look for other covers, by other famous singers and with unknowns......... Then go with the one that best fits me and my" Style"(if you can call it that)

  7.     Hi Kimberly, Sorry it took so long for a comment. If you could use some file sharing site like Box. net or soundcloud or Youtube that would be better. As it is we have to download your file to play it.

Is that you Jamming on guitar also on Rescue Me? Sounds pretty cool. On the singing there is a bit too much delay and reverb to really hear your voice. Sound pretty good though.

     Anyway......... Welcome to the forum.:)

    I really liked it.

I have a fantasy dinner, now. You, MDEW, and me at my house, smoking a brisket and I have a few guitars here and you can bring yours and we would inflict our guitar playing and singing on whoever is near, usually my dog and cat and my wife, Brenda. And yes, she likes all kinds of music. One of her favorite albums is Christmas Polka by Brave Combo. And in her car on the way to visit her mother, we have the radio set on Hair Nation or Ozzy's Boneyard. And, I do have the cd Live and Sleazy by the Village People. So, something for everyone to groove on.

Hell yeah man that sounds awesome.  As long as you guys don't mind having a kid around hahah.. I believe we could pull a pretty mean acoustic version of "Whichita Lineman" between the three of us. :) Thanks for listening

Someone will have to give me a ride..........My tire is flat.  If I start walking now I can be there by september.  Should I bring chips?

MDEW, I really like your version, you transform it to a new style. I have to find guitar player to try this
    on some songs myself.

Thanks Ed-Win, I liked your version also. When it comes to singing to a Karaoke or backing track I get lost pretty easy. I guess I roll to a different drummer.  I cannot read music but I would play songs by using guitar books that had the chords above the melody in the positions they would be in the song and sing what sounded right to me. I would be pretty surprised by the difference sometimes when hearing the actual song for the first time.

  10.    Hi Bevin, Your voice sounds pretty good. Some of the recording software has a slight delay in playback when using headphones. It has something to do with latency that can be dealt with but I do not know enough about it to help.

I hope to hear more from you. Good choice in picking "Four Pillars" to work with.

Wow, I've never heard that song before, and I really like it!

I will warn you that I'm not an expert, but there were a few times I wanted a little more variety, maybe a little more oomph in one or more of the choruses. That being said, I wouldn't take it up too much because it is a very smooth mellow song.

    Great job!

Welcome to the forum Bevin. I agree with her Jeremy. I did not know the song either and you sang it pretty much like T.Rex, BUT if you put your own spin on this and make it yours it will sound much better.
