  1. I like the "Tom Jones" tune. You have a nice voice. But here is the point... do not think of yourself as a vocalist of one genre. Just see your self as a vocalist. Someone that is capable of singing many genre's, styles and feels. I suppose Im a metal singer myself at heart, its what inspired me when I was younger and still does. I find it the most challenging singing available and I still get pleasure out of the energy that metal and rock can offer... however, I have sang Italian, German and English art songs and currently in my gig bag I have "My Kind of Town" by Sinatra, "Please Come To Boston" by Kenny Loggins, "Sunshine on My Shoulders" by John Denver and on... be in the moment, sing what you want to sing, embrace the idea of hearing your voice in a completely new context and try new things. Sounds to me like your on a good path.
  2. I have sang "Were'er You Walk' before... its one of my favorite songs in my Classical book. Very pretty. I liked your recording.
  3. Well, the sound production is low quality, so its hard to be too fair and objective... but this song is pretty easy , Yet I think your doing a decent job... your in pitch.. singing and playing guitar at the same time is very hard... Me thinks your doing a good job for the first time singing in public... Keep singing!
  4. Not saying you aren't sure... you probably are, just pay attention to it and tighten it up.. the starts and stops... right. phrase starts on the beat, ends on the beat. tighten it up.. .pay attention to the details.
  5. Ok, there it goes... Nice voice. I like the song too... I think its pretty. I would suggest that you get in touch with the "dark chocolate" inside your lower tones... you sing a low note.. but if you put a little bit of space in the pharynx and blow more air, you can get richer, darker overtones and i think that would feature your pretty voice better. I would also work on the rhythmic cues, its a bit slushy... some play is ok, but I would tighten up the starts and stops more. I hope this helps, and thank for joining TMV... keep 'em coming.
  6. Shunyun, Im trying to listen to your tune and its not playing... can anyone else get some traction here?
  7. DJDeth Im listening to your tune... there is a lot of constriction in the sound to create a vocal distortion and Im assuming this is the sound your going for? Vocal distortion is cool, especially if your a heavy metal singer, however you can sing "lines" and melody with vocal distortion as well. Here is what I would like to hear... more exploration of the notes that are available to you in this key to create a melody that is marginally more interesting. In regards to the texture you have here... it would also be nice to hear some clean tone interplay with the distortion so that its not one flavor all the way through. Overall, I think the song is ok. It would be good+ with a more interesting melody and opening up for some better vocal overtones. This is my professional opinion. If you would like more feedback, contact me.
  8. Tom, 90% of everyone you see can learn to sing. In fact most people can learn to sing amazing if they have the right coach and techniques. vocal training is an athletic endeavor. Its much to do with building strength and coordination of your body and certain muscles. If you practice, you will become much better. Any voice lesson you have will probably help you. Just get started, I assure you that you will sound great and get much joy out of it. Glad to have you here and reach out... coach
  9. Broanna, I have been wanting to come back here and listen to your songs. Do you have a link to your profile page at TMV so that I can hear your tunes?
