  1. Thanks Kiran... and how is it all working out for you Kiran? Care to share with these guys... ?
  2. Glad a client showed me this thread... I am really happy to hear that you guys like Pillars. One thing I can say about it, it is always going to get better, and better and better... I will always be adding more content, more techniques, more new innovative ideas to Pillars. I really don't see there being a point where, like other products, all of a sudden its 'done'? I don't get that... if your profession is developing and teaching vocal techniques, your probably not 'done' for a long time... Will there be a xmas special, no guarantee actually guys... I will be in Europe in December doing Master Classes in Italy and Germany, here is the link for details if anyone would like to come: http://thevocaliststudioworkshop.com/tvs-master-class-tour-2012/ When I am on the road on these tours, I don't have time to do newsletters and put together big promo campaigns and stuff and if I do get something out for xmas, there is no guarantee that its going to be any $99 deal. If you want to get serious about your singing and start training... if you want to purchase "Pillars" now and get going, then do it now if you can. Don't put your vocal training and dreams on hold for a measly $100? That makes no sense to me, if it is September and you already now you want it. And when you do, take lessons with me so we can really get big progress, quickly. Regarding upgrades: Allow me to clarify some points here for you all: I personally like the hard copy, it comes signed by me and it is made with high grade glossy paper and its full color. Plus, the sheer size of the content , now over 12GB, is a beast to download. However, the digital download is the most popular version that people purchase. If there is a major update to the book and content and you own the hard copy, I will only charge you for the price of shipping and making the book. The books cost about $50 to make and the shipping is $16 currently... so you would pay about $65 for an upgrade with shipping on the hard copy and discs. Not a big deal for your vocal training. If you purchased the digital download, you will also pay for upgrades. It is not true that people get free upgrades if they purchase the digital download version. That is dumb, why would I do that? So yes, if you own a copy of "The Four Pillars of Singing 2.0" and a new, major update comes out, you will pay for the upgrade, but it is always going to be very reasonable. Like I said, don't wait months just to save $60 or what ever... your singing and vocal training is worth more then that. Get started as soon as you can with a dream and something that you are really excited about. Im available to answer any questions any of you may have about it...
  3. This is my great friend, student and teacher Sergio Calafiura. Any of you from Italy, come join me and Sergio in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy for a TVS Master Class in November, http://thevocaliststudioworkshop.com/tvs-master-class-tour-2012/
  4. Agreed, I think it came off well... I think its just a karaoke track? Some of these karaoke tracks are pretty darn good... I just purchased "Victim of Changes" from JP from these guys www.karaoke-version.com. They also have a "child in time" that sounds good... This mic is an AKG D7... of all the dynamic mics I use for these live recordings, it is one of them that sounds good for recordings... Now that I have my live recording set up dialed in,,, Im going to let rip some new "Rob" stuff that sounds kick ass, or die trying... sounds great when the right efx, levels and compression are set-up.
  5. Enjoy... noticed the modified "oo"s on the lyric 'you'... in this case, it is used a few times to reduce constriction on the higher notes, however, in the lower notes... the modification serves as a stylistic touch. Sometimes singing the speech mode closed vowels just still sounds like, speech mode vowels... a touch of modification can make closed vowels sound a bit more 'bluesy' and helps you to dampen the larynx. Enjoy! This recording was one live take, straight to garageband, through a Mackie 820i firewire board. The easiest, simplest system you could set up for 'home' recording... but I am totally impressed. This sounds killer... Garageband has great presets and templates... if you can get a great live take, the necessity to spend great gobs of money on a big studio becomes very questionable if your making demos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQLQUPxRl2g
  6. Coincidentally... Pearl just posted this little clip from her rehearsals with me this last weekend...
  7. Enjoy the composition and singing of my current student and TVS CI in training, Sil Fiore! No denying it, this is talent folks... she wrote this song and we worked on the vocals together. Mostly the vowel modifications and dynamics. http://soundcloud.com/sibilla-music/whiteandblueflower
  8. Ya, try the suggested file that Enigma8118 from Karaoke Version. I downloaded and it does sound pretty good and it keeps us all legitimate. Its $2.
  9. Hey, did someone say they found a bed track for "Child in Time" that is really good? Im thinking of doing a serious video in the studio of it and I would like to have a good recording of it? Or would be willing to commission anyone to do a great version of it with fat instrumentation, on a WAV file, etc...?
  10. Keith I did break out "Take Hold of the Flame" this evening and began working on it. Recorded it, it sounded pretty good in most parts , but I flubbed a couple spots, gotta chop on it some more... just wanted to let you know I wasn't puss'n out...
  11. I do have a great entertainment attorney in WA that I have used for years that I can refer you to for IP issues.
  12. Wow Keith, that sounds great! I can't wait to meet you over skype and really help you. I know how much you want this... not to worry brosef, we'll get your game on so you have lots to show the guys here at this forum.
  13. Uh... no? :| But I will honor the 'friends & family' discount on your next sesh, I already pitched you yesterday as a homie that needs to come in for some sesh with the Maestro! :/
  14. ... oh, I see I got another rep. point. I was at 29 for a long time... I have to work hard for 'em around here... I have to sing like Ian Gillan tunes and stuff to get a rep. point, but all Bob has to do is talk about top-down, falsetto sirens... NOT FAIR. jk
  15. Oh, thanks Nick! Appreciate you letting the 'gang' know that here. You have to know, this is really the most outstanding online forum community for singing in the world. I'm not just saying that... I did not trade him a free lesson to say that. I will probably go check Nick out this Sunday night at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Seattle, just a few blocks from my new studio. While I didn't ask you to give me a shout-out, I will give you a rep. point for that! :D
  16. Ya, I think Nick has some George Michael overtones, which is a compliment. George Michaels is a good singer. Nice Work Nick, I also like the 'proggy' vibe in the instrumentation at times. See you Sunday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle.
  17. ".... all along thinking without you"... I think Dante would say, beef up your interarytenoid & vocalis on this in a few parts. The 'contract & release' onsets would really help you to get these M2/head tones beefier at the level they need to be... i would be excited to show you how... it would take about four weeks of working out the musculature, perhaps a bit longer, but in time, you can get this chestier with some things I can show you. It mostly needs a dampened larynx and stronger anchoring.. but its only a matter of working out the muscles. You can do it... I have been working on this stuff a lot lately and I sang "take hold of the flame" last night the best I ever have in my entire life, I'm not kidding... I sang it the way I always wanted to since I was 15 years old... This interarytenoid and vocalis work with onsets and sirens really works great. I've never sounded or felt more 'beefy' in my M2/head tones in my entire career. Im busting through a new level of strength and capability. I hope to share the ideas with my clients soon as I continue to refine the pedagogy around it and update the book with it. I know, I know... "let's hear it"? I will, maybe tomorrow or within the week, but can't do it now...
  18. Ill give this a try as well... maybe tomorrow... I have to get out of this studio and get some work done on the book... working on big 2.5 updates.
  19. Keith, I just listened to your tune. Great job Buddy! Way to step up... !!! Maybe those onsets and sirens are helping after all! Great to hear a student get after something like this and "balls" it up the public forum.
  20. Ooo, that's tempting. I have been working on "Take Hold of the Flame"... Now I have a reason to post...
  21. Nick is a student of mine from Seattle, this sounds great! Love the compression and great pitch. Good strong voice! Enjoy! http://www.reverbnation.com/nickbeckley
  22. Thanks Ron. The audio was live... it was one take as well. Well anyways... onto the next tune, probably going to post an original next.
