  1. Wow, this was horrible. Just horrible. I'm totally kidding! I just wanted to know what it was like to not give a positive review. This was great as usual, and the song will probably be stuck in my head for the remainder of the evening. As for Aikido (which was Steven Seagal's main discipline), I've always found it to be a fascinating discipline, being so largely defense based.
  2. Damn! As a big Lenny Wolf and Michael Matijevic fan, these were nice to hear. (saw them both in their heydays, and they were amazing live) "What Love Can Be" and "She's Gone" are two of the most technically demanding rock power ballads of all time, and you nailed them. Outstanding work here, man.
  3. Outstanding. It's easy to envision a sea of lighters lit in a jam packed arena with this one. Well, I suppose in today's world, it would be cellphones, but you get my point. :)
  4. This is excellent, man. The vocals are big and strong to match the music. It reminds me a bit of Burton Bell of Fear Factory when he sings clean.
  5. Excellent once again. And hey, as long as there's no green outline around you (an obvious sign of a bad chroma keying job) ...then it's all good.
  6. Yes, I have. I'm about 5 minutes from downtown, actually. I've been here all my life, and there's definitely no shortage of talent or places to play. Hell, if you come here again, let me know.
  7. Very cool. This is definitely solid enough to stand on its own for something like an open mic night. I agree with Geno about working on the stage presence aspect. I've seen many talented musicians clear a room by not connecting with a crowd. It probably sounds weird, but when I was younger, I used to practice in front of a huge poster of a concert crowd that I pulled out of one of my biker uncles' "Easyrider" magazines.
  8. I must say, this is brilliant. I love it when something seems like there's no way it would work, but then it actually does. Imagination and experimentation can go a long, long way, and this is proof.
  9. I've liked everything you've posted here before, but this just might be my favorite. This isn't the kind of song that has to "grow" on you. You know it kicks ass the second you hear it. Very well done.
  10. Question - are you ever going to post something that isn't amazing? Very, very good. Coincidentally, I am going to be working on a greenscreen studio, too. It should be done in a week or two. What software did you use before? We are planning to use Pinnacle Studio 16, but Adobe Premiere may be worth checking out, too.
  11. Bad ass. Great production overall. You have good reason to be proud of this.
  12. I agree completely, which is why I was saying sometimes we "can't see the forest for the trees" from a listener perspective. As a whole, it is undeniably good for many reasons.
  13. I think one of the downsides of progressing as a musician is that we tend to become far too analytical and lose our ability to be casual listeners. Considering how much time and effort we put into so many details and techniques on the road to bettering ourselves, it's certainly understandable how the analytical side may be instilled in us. Strangely, I used to be envious of non-musicians for their ability to simply take a song in and not automatically go into "dissect mode". In recent years, I've gotten a little better in this regard and more often I'm asking myself "but did I like what I heard?" once I've gone through the inevitable nitpicking process. With that said, in this case, at the end of it all....I liked what I heard.
  14. Hilarious video concept, and cool song. I dig how your voice is "ballsy" enough to blend with heavy music and you remain intelligible.
  15. Being a big Rita Coolidge fan, I've probably heard her cover of this more than the Jackie Wilson version, but man, this was just superb. Although it is a very subjective term, this oozed unbridled "soul", which made listening to it all the more fun.
  16. I would guess the latter, but I could be wrong. Still a bad ass cover nonetheless.
  17. Very well done. Sounds great. If you ever want to hear a completely different version of this, check out Type O Negative's cover.
  18. Pretty cool. It's always good to hear something that strays from the norm. Your voice was very fitting for both songs. Fogelberg's music was pure magic. I remember to this day my sister and I referring to "Longer" as the "Fishes in the Ocean" song when we would ask our mother to play it in the car.
  19. Yes, and a member of Santana at 15. Back in those days, he had the biggest afro I've ever seen on any human being.
  20. Michael Matijevic is in my top 5 male vocalists of all time list, and I would say you did this justice.
  21. I dig it, and congratulations on the new project. As for the imbeciles who left comments, ignore them. I was very young when I first pursued music, and my biggest critics back then eventually became my biggest supporters. Age means nothing if the talent is there. I was working with someone earlier this year who won Guitar Center's "Guitarmageddon" contest here in Orlando two years ago. He was 17 when he won. So, use your youth to your advantage. It will be the first thing people bring up when you win them over. (He's only 17, can you believe that?!?!)
  22. Precisely. I don't know if it's a matter of my growing up in a different era and having performers like Diamond Dave showing the world how you rule the stage or what, but I hosted several open mic nights here in town over the last year, and I can't even begin to tell you how many younger "indie hipster" types would perform, and go into a long self-deprecating intro before playing. Now, I'm aware in some cases, it could be for comedic effect, but even then, it often makes me cringe. I just can't imagine putting your proverbial "blood, sweat, and tears" into perfecting your craft, and actually wanting to be perceived as an underdog. It makes no sense to me. But to each their own and all that jazz, I suppose. (steps off soapbox)
  23. Holy (insert profane word here) !!! Flow My Tears was absolutely gorgeous. Out-friggin-standing. I played it back three times. I do agree with the others who said the distortion was a bit much in the Dio clip, though. It almost comes across as a Dio parody. However, that's not to say everything else about it wasn't good.
