  1. Great job Keith! I have to agree with Dan in regards to singing the pitches with a little more intensity. Don't short change yourself because I know you can do it. This may help...Work on you speaking voice by making sure you have a nice clear tone with great vocal fold closure. You can practice this by counting to 100 with a loud resonate voice, but make sure you keep the tone staccato. This will directly affect the quality of your tone. As soon as you finish counting you can vocalize on a 3-5 tone scale focusing on keep the notes staccato. You will be able to feel trouble spots a lot earlier in your range than you would if you were to sing legato. As soon as you get to a spot where you feel like you need to break, bridge, or blend don't do it! Just focus on keeping the vowel short and connected. If you cannot keep it connected do not move to the next pitch because you will only be selling yourself short by flipping. Good Luck!
  2. Whatever you have been doing stick to it because it has been working.
  3. Nice cover. I believe you should work on the basics of singing. Breathing and Cord closure. Work on speaking the vowels as clearly as possible with as resonant of a voice as you can. I like to say the alphabet as loudly and clearly as possible on a comfortable pitch. When doing this you should focus on being very staccato like with the tone. This will really help you to get the onset down pat and feel the support of the lower body.
  4. Pulling chest is complete BS! The lack of being able to sing in full voice in the upper area of the voice is not because we have a different setup it's because we don't have enough strength to keep that fold closure, while simultaneously stretching the vocal folds, while holding back the breath with the body. You really do have a great voice in the areas in which you are comfortable. This is just like me saying I can bench 300, but I suck because I can't bench 400lbs. Just take your time and be patient(note by note) There is no magic pill or solution only time and constructive effort.
  5. I personally liked the last exercise the most, but I feel that they are all performed a little to fast to really get the coordination down to fully "bridge" correctly. I personally like to take it slow and feel how each pitch is similar, but different from the pitches that lie directly above or below it. Just try to keep everything even and only modify the vowel. The changes at the level of the larynx should be very subtle. One more thing your "mi" sounds a little constricted. I would suggest adding a little more space to it and rounding the lips.
  6. Very nice covers  You have a great tone to your voice and nice agility. I would say that the main thing that I noticed was that you sing with a slightly pressed tonal configuration and you become very breathy when you decrescendo. I also noticed that you chicken out when the songs get out of the comfortable part of your range and you go into a disconnected head voice. This can be used for stylistic effects, but I would rather hear you sing an unstable full voice note than hear you short change yourself with that falsetto tone. I believe you can alleviate many of the problems by working on the vocal onset. Practice going from a breathy onset to a glottal onset to a balanced onset. The breathy onset will be like haaaaaaaaaa....The glottal will be like Aaaaaaaaaaa....The Balanced onset will be like (h) aaaaaaaaaaa in this case the h will not be perceptible, but it should be imagined. To alleviate the falsetto work on doing slow slides from your lowest to highest pitch without breaking. I personally do this countless times a day at random. If you need any extra help or demonstrations hit me up on skype. zayyy625 I hope this helps.
  7. Not bad at all. You could have modified the vowel a little more, but other than that you're on the right track.
  8. Great Job Rob! I'm glad you posted a link of you actually singing. This really gives you more credibility with the new members(myself included) and more potential students. Thanks for the great Cover
  9. You have to understand how people look at you from the web view. It's very hard to determine if someone is cocky or not by just reading text, but the way you come across on here sets you up to be a target for other people. Just try to give more constructive replies and stay humble.
  10. Well I don't mean to add to this, but....
  11. Nice Cover and great style. The first thing that stuck out to me was the clenching of the jaw. I feel that if you can learn to release your jaw a little more then your tone will improve immediately. Other than that I hear a few support issues, but I believe dropping the jaw a little more will help with this.
  12. This is what some term as mixed voice, but I just think it is balance between all of the muscles of the larynx which is what we should be doing anyway. One voice one pitch at a time.
  13. Felipe all I can say is great job you showed the best on this song. I expected nothing less from you. Keep up the good work.
  14. Well I would like to welcome you to the singing world LOL I am a firm believer that if you can speak you can sing. Do you have a skype? If so maybe you can check out the skype conference call that we are going to be having on Wednesday at 7:00 pm eastern time. Also you should be using google to the max, so search for anything about singing that you can, check out library books, and watch as many videos as possible. If you want any extra help I will be glad to offer my assistance, but first do a forum search on breath support and vocal fold closure then get back at me after you have read a few of the common issues and resolutions.
  15. Don't worry about this too much. You pitch will improve as you are able to better control your voice. Trainear.com is a great tool.
  16. You have a great voice and you should never give up the ability to express yourself by singing. What kind of vocal exercises are you currently doing? How long have you been singing? I hear some corrections that can be made, but first I need to know what you are currently doing?
  17. Great cover! You have a great/balanced tone to you voice and I loved this arrangement. Smooth
  18. All of the things that I mentioned will affect the legato line.
  19. Yes, just because you don't feel anything doesn't mean that you are not doing damage. Just take it slow/one pitch at a time. If you are not comfortable singing in the 4TH and 5TH octave comfortably then that could be dangerous.
  20. You have a great tone and vibrato to your voice, but I feel like the vowels are a little to dark for the key this song is in. This would be a lot better if you brighten the vowels more. Other than that whatever you have been doing to train your voice is working. Keep up the good work.
