TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted May 8, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 8, 2013 A cover of the Whitesnake number. Vocals by me, all instruments by my friend Justin Elliot. As usual, constructive criticism or "good job" is welcome. George George can often be found playing electric stringy things, and singing... TMV World Legacy Member MDEW Posted May 8, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 8, 2013 I can never find any fault with your singing. All I can do is listen and enjoy myself. Are you self taught or did you have some training? "You need a strong foundation to reach the heights."
TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted May 8, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 8, 2013 MDEW. I'm glad you enjoyed it ! I'm self taught, but... I work hard at making my self better by recording myself and listening and correcting. I read about technique, I visit this site, and also I have worked through some distance-learning type courses. I liked "Breaking The Chains" by Kevin Richards, which was good for range and other stuff. I also have "Singing Success" by Brett Manning, but I can't on with him, he sounds like Justin Bieber to me. Spawn of the devil. Ooops ... does Brett visit this site? I occasionally toy with the idea of getting lessons, and have dallied with doing some with Robert Lunte online, to get me up to the next level. But.. I don't feel plateaued on self-propelled improvement yet, so I'm not well motivated to sort that out yet. Maybe soon. But.. I am a trained musician, in guitar (both electric and classical), and also viola. I spent 30+ years as a guitarist before I saw the light about 3 years ago and moved to primarily doing vocals. TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted May 11, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 11, 2013 To some degree, but I consider David Coverdale a master! At some point in the past, did Coverdale consider someone else a master? Both he and friend and fellow singer Glenn Hughes had an appreciation of american funk and r&b singers. Especially Glenn. Were those singers in America their "masters"? It's all in your head. Incorporate the sounds or feelings you want, as far as your voice can do them with endurance. In fact, considering what I have heard of your voice, I think you could do quite a bit of Coverdale's sound. You just have to want to. Unless you are afraid that you won't sound just like him. I don't but I will sing along with this song, anyway. I have no shame. Come on, Adon. See if George can lend you his backing track and you do this sing. I double dare you. It's all in your head. I'm with you in this. For I am taking on a song that I have viewed as my "Moby Dick" for some time. Why? Because it's all in my head, too.

TMV World Legacy Member Gneetapp Posted May 20, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 20, 2013 I am new to the forum, although I have been browsing many topics and listening to many more evaluation requests from other members. As this is my very first post, I carefully chose the cover of Whitesnake's Give me all your love tonight, done by GuitarGeorge, to whom I respectfully bow for the excellent job done with this cover. I am a big fan of Coverdale's talent, and now became a guitargeorge fan too.:D

TMV World Legacy Member Olem Posted May 27, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 27, 2013 It sounds great, George, the first 30 seconds sounds less confident than the rest but as a whole an amazing craft. I haven´t heard you sing this well in your upper range before.
TMV World Legacy Member napoleonboot Posted May 27, 2013 Author TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 27, 2013 Thanks Olem. What you can hear in the first verse or two is that I found the timing and emphasis particularly hard to get right for them, the more timse I tried it the worse I seemed to get ;) George can often be found playing electric stringy things, and singing... TMV World Legacy Member ronws Posted May 27, 2013 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 27, 2013 Thanks Olem. What you can hear in the first verse or two is that I found the timing and emphasis particularly hard to get right for them, the more timse I tried it the worse I seemed to get I totally understand that. Back when I was recording "I Don't Believe in Love" by Queensryche, it would take me forever to start the first verse right. "I awoke in impact" starts on an off beat at a point when the drums are silent. Liked to have driven me bonkers. If you have ever listened to that and look at the actual file name, it is version 8.
