  1. The high part, which I decided to lower to my more comfortable range. "For you to me are the only only one."I didn't like "for you to me" and was debating even going lower and changing that whole sentence note wise. So any input is helpful. I played around with that part about 10 different ways before coming up with that way of singing it. Keep it? Ditch it? Think it's ok? I have made recordings here that I liked and then made a CD of it but it doesn't sound the same when I play it in the car. It sounds like it was in a tunnel. My wife is deaf in one ear so headphones don't do her any good. It is better with full surround sound for her. But I can't seem to got anything mixed good enough to transfer to a CD. That is where I also need ideas/help. Thanks for listening Kieth.
  2. Hey guys, I need some help. My wedding anniversary is in September but my wife and I are very big on the day we met which is July 30th. When we got married our wedding song was Thank You by Led Zeppelin. I want to do this song for our 30th anniversary of when we met but I want it to be good. I'm having a little trouble with it and there is one spot in particular that sounds horrible to me. Anyway, my point is that I did a preliminary version for you guys to listen to and make suggestions on how I could improve it. Also, I was wondering if someone could take the MP3 when I make the final version and mix it? Is that possible? You know, maybe clean it up since my recording skills suck. I still have almost 2 months so there is time to work on it and the vocals. Thanks Here it is. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11683890&q=hi
  3. Ok, getting back on topic. I listened to the song a few times over the last couple of days and I listened to the original. As always I think you did a great job. There's nothing I can say really that wouldn't just be repeating what you already said yourself. The high notes. A bit weak at the start, some better ones along the way and strong at the end. The last "sky" was nice and strong but then "time" right after that kind of missed. Nice vibrato at the end of the high notes. The covering on words like me and disappear worked well. I heard a couple of others also that were good. IMO the high notes are getting better although they are still your only weak spot. Definitely thicker though. Nice job Kieth.
  4. Mastered? I'm throwing darts bro. Just pokin' and hopin' I slide the controls one way, save the file, then listen to it. Don't like it? Then back to square one, slide the controls the other way and so on. Actually what I have found is as Ron said, less is more (for my taste). I don't like too much of an echo sound or a trailing off. I set the slide very dry...almost zero. I dampen about half way and set tail almost all the way down. I set room size to about 10 feet.
  5. I'm guessing then, that by increasing the volume so to speak...or the input value, then it is in actuality allowing more space (in a sense), sort of moving the max line for clipping further on down the road? Extending?
  6. Thanks Ron, As for the input meter. I thought the farther to the right meant louder thus more overloading. it seems the more to the right I go the more the red meter lines max out. So I have been lowering it to around 5. So at my loudest the red only goes up 3/4 of the way. So you're saying it's the opposite?
  7. Thanks. Like said, this song is a work in progress. I thought I had it down with my own flavor and then someone convinced me to sing it differently. I did and didn't like it so kept trying to modify "their way" thinking I just wasn't getting it. Truth is I just like my way better. Now, after putting so much time on the change I can't seem to get back to my way....strange right. lol. But I'm getting close. I stopped listening to the Clapton version to move away from copying him. I think I need to go back. Thanks again....I'm surprised you guys liked it since I wasn't exactly happy with it. And thanks for the tips, I'll make note.
  8. Thanks Kieth. I didn't know about the input adjustment. I'll have to play around and figure that out. Also I'll listen to it again and listen for the cut notes and make note, thanks. :)
  9. Thanks for the listen Igor So would I!! But I don't play guitar. Thanks man
  10. I've done this song here before but didn't like the recording or my version. Working on the advice of someone else I changed how I normally sing it, opting for their way, and didn't like the outcome. So I'm doing it again but now find that I am caught between the two versions....I'm lost I'm still not happy with it but I'm working toward a better version. I'm trying to get "me" back. For now, try this on for size. It's a work in progress Thanks http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11675783&q=hi
  11. Thanks Ron. Beer, I only had one. It was the pint of Vodka that go me I recorded this song once a couple of weeks ago but didn't like it. I hadn't planned on singing yesterday as I was too busy and it already got late. Then after a few drinks...well....you know how it goes. But it was a hit and run; no warmup no nothing. No do overs. I also did another version of "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" but I'm still not happy with it. I'll post it tomorrow. Maybe :)
  12. Fantastic!! Who does that song? I've never heard it, really good stuff. You did a great job. Very nice.
  13. Ok...I'll let you off lol To be honest, I would love to re-post "Georgia On My Mind" which is in my song list linked in my signature, but I have posted so many versions of that here on the forums that even I am about to puke!!! But I thought that last one came out really good. Then again I'm a little biased right? Thanks for the listen and comment bro! :)
  14. Ha ha ha...hey wait a minute! Is that saying something about my previous recordings? Thanks Max, glad you liked it.
  15. I haven't had time to record or even sing lately due to my work schedule and overtime. Today I got an unexpected day off and had to play catch up with work at home; ie, grass cutting. After cutting the grass in close to 90 degree weather I quietly got drunk. After drinking enough I decided to record Mistake? Maybe. You decide....I'm fearless...lmao. This was one shot. I set up the equipment, sang it once and was done with it. Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11675733&q=hi
  16. I can understand that as I do the same thing. It's tough sometimes because as I've said, there are those who want exact replicas and then there are those who like to hear what you can do with the song. Experimentation is a great learning tool. Hey, I love songs like She Came in Through The Bathroom Window and With A Little Help From My Friends by The Beatles. BUT! I really love Joe Cockers versions even more. ;)
  17. Nice job Max. There are many who love to hear songs sung exactly like the original with no alterations. Then there are those who feel that the original has already been done. Been there done that, in a way, and prefer the singer adding his own twist. I say if you want the original then go listen to the original CD. I like to see what a singer...an artist...can do with a song (while not straying from the melody too much). I think you did a great job on this song while staying close enough to the original with your own little flavor. I had to listen to the line " there's no sign of the morning coming, you've been left on your own" a few times. At first it didn't sound right. It was on pitch but somehow didn't sound right. Like it needed a little tweaking. Then I got it. I was comparing it to the original when in actuality I think it was just you adding your own twist to it. If that's the case then all is well. If not, then that is the only part that "maybe" needs a little tweaking.
  18. No worries. You don't actually sound like Axl. His name just popped into my head when I heard some of the high the raspyness. Sounded good though.
  19. Very nice. I enjoyed that. Pleasant is the word...very. Nice tone and style. "Horse With No Name." It was good, but for me, it strayed just a touch too far from the original melody. That song is truly recognizable by its melody and some songs (for me) should remain as close as possible. But that is just a matter of taste and very subjective. Excellent stuff. When I get time I'll have to listen to more. Now that's saying something because this is not my usual music style/taste. :D
  20. I don't have much time this morning so I only listened to Let it Be (Beatles) all the way through. The rest I just briefed through. But what I heard I loved. Nice job.
  21. It works now. Wow! I don't know what to say. Not what I was expecting Interesting rendition for sure. Sort of the band meets Axl Rose You've got some power there man, I like your voice. That was cool in some way, even though personally I'm kind of on the fence about altering that song. I'm looking forward to the rest of it. Sounds like a good backing track also.
  22. Thanks Olem, I really appreciate it. Stevie is my all time favorite guitar player but I also love his bluesy vocal style. Thanks again
  23. The link isn't public. I really wanted to hear this too. Love this song.
  24. Ahhh, see. I had to go back and listen to that and yes, I hear it. And it happens each time. But I didn't notice before because I'm not familiar with the song. Was never an Iron Maiden fan. :)
