  1. Thanks guys. Ron, are you referring to a specific place in the song or just all the time?
  2. Doesn't Ken's new program have ANY info on distortion, not even in stage 3?
  3. When you say "too squeezed" - do you mean the mix or my vocals? Btw. this track has yet to be mixed better while "Summer of 69" which is in another thread HAS been mixed - at least a bit.
  4. Hi guys, Here's another song that me and my band recorded in our rehearsal place a few days ago. This is a live recording and always works well in our set list. If you could take the time to tell me what you think, it would be most appreciated: https://www.box.com/s/fkplk7q6krel0q4nutzt Regards, jonpall.
  5. Btw. as alway with rock recordings, it sounds best when played at maximum volume . So turn it up and roll down your windows. This is the song for it :)
  6. Hi guys! It would be cool to hear what you think of my singing here: https://www.box.com/s/iidhmlkmploo1kgrrs34 This is a live recording of me singing with my band during rehearsals. I'm using a dynamic mic so I'm sure that if I'd used a condenser and comped the vocal track, it would have sounded better. What do you think of my singing here and what do you think people in general will think? I'm not absolutely sure if the vocals are good enough so I'd like to hear your opinions. I've got a thick skin for this so just tell me how you really feel about this, bad or good. Have a nice day! jonpall.
  7. I've heard it's pretty slow. Delaware is where the fun is at, IMO.
  8. Great rock singing man!! I agree with Tommy that it would sound even better if you'd learn the song better.
  9. Hi breakin! I think it's pretty simple, if you have the cvt book, try to sing an entire song below your passagio and sing it mostly in overdrive, but some neutral and curbing maybe here and there for added dynamics. Then post it here. What you're missing on that track of yours to have a more solid chest voice is to increase your volume a bit and sing while holding your breath (being even slightly breathy robs you of power). I don't mean that you should sing as loud as you can - but a bit louder. Try that to start off with, post it here and see where it takes you. That's what I would suggest. I'm sure you'll nail it out of the park after just a few tries. Have a nice day!
  10. I pretty much agree with Felipe (I tend to do that, it seems), that you're lacking in the technique department. You seem to have an ear for melody so that's a good thing, since you will already have a head start on many people who don't. But your lack of technique is affecting not only your range and high notes, but your tone and pitch on the low notes as well. Doing some vocal training will help you with that and, like Felipe, I really suggest that you develop a fairly solid CHEST voice before you start working on your high notes all the time. You can do it and you have the potential, man! Cheers!
  11. I like your tone and you sing like you really mean it. Great job Felipe!
  12. Btw. once I was contemplating the idea of moving to France but I wasn't sure if the music scene there, f.ex. in Paris, was good enough. Doesn't everyone sing in French and want to here French singing for starters? And is there any rock scene there? Also, for some reason I can't remember any huge ROCK bands that come from France and are known throughout the world. Even Norway has Aha (well, that's a pop band, but... hey...), but what about France?
  13. LOVE your sound and attitude! Not sure I'd change a thing, man. Keep up that attitude. Are you doing any vocal exercises or mostly just messing around with singing songs?
  14. Didn't hear that one until now. Great and powerful singer. I'll say it again - powerful! :)
  15. I'm generally not impressed by notes above E5, but I must admit that what's impressive about Child in time is the fact that the highest screams go to A5 . Just like the highest note in Steelheart's "Never let you go".
  16. I would post a cover but I usually peak at G5 and if I remember correctly, the highest screams are A5s. How high are the screams of mr. Lunte and mr. Evil? But perhaps I'll get off my ass and try to improve my range to A5.
  17. Great vocals Snax! I really like the overall sound of your voice. Are you sure you're not a bass or a baritone? You have a very full sound. Are you singing very close to the mic? Anyway, if I am to critisize anything, it would be that I recommend that you make your vibrato a BIT faster, because it's borderline wobbly. But it could also be a matter of taste. Have a nice day man!
  18. Opaa - nice work! The thing that you're missing for a near-perfect sound is a slightly more "dopyness" to your sound, IMO. Don't overdo it, though. Good luck! :)
  19. I actually started headbanging when I heard Jugulator's Helloween cover I'd never heard the song and I've listened to very little from Helloween. devaitis, I think it's just Jugulator's style in this song that's not your cup of tea. It has that Geoff Tate sound, I think. My guess is that you'd like it better if he were to add a slight cry/hold to his notes in the passagio and higher - and I might dig it more if he'd put some distortion, right? lol. But nevertheless I really liked that take. It was fun to listed and watch. Meeeetal maaan!! ;)
  20. Awesome Snax! I really dug the distortion effect, btw. I'm not sure if I agree about the pillow thing but perhaps it can be noted that it is always a bit harder to clearly pronounce words if you have rasp on top of them. Could it be that your tongue is too far backwards and the tip of your tongue isn't touching the back of your bottom teeth? That seems to happen to me sometimes and it can make the sound more "muffled". Just a guess, though, but you might want to check yourself in the mirror. But that's just a slight critique. All in all it's just bloody awesome. And just as awesome is that link in the bottom to your version of "Thunderball", even though I've heard it before. But after listening to it again, I must ask something that I pretty much never ask singers - are you SURE this is you and not Tom Jones? Because I think that's just world class singing.
  21. Ron, my slight American accent probably comes from watching the original Star Wars movies too much as a kid Or basically lots of American tv. I'm not sure Star Wars would have worked with everyone speaking with British accents, but I did once see a Portuguese dubbed version and it was quite an experience hearing Darth Vader express himself that day. We don't have any dubbed tv here. And no igloos, contrary to some belief.
  22. I just posted on that thread. Thanks, Stewart. Olem, IMO, you should just work on your pitch as the next step for you. You have loads of talent but you need to improve your pitch. Cheers!
  23. Loved that Kotzen cover of yours. The main difference between you and Richie is the hat, IMO. Seriously, I think you did a great job and were using very similar techniques. And that guitar playing was simply WORLD CLASS, man! . You see, my name's Jon and I'm a shredder too. I've been shredding for many many years and trying my best to play at regular speed. Everyone say "Hi, Jon!". Ok, I'll sit down now. Here's some of my shredding and guitar playing in case anyone is interested: (A Steve Vai cover. Sorry about the audio quality) and http://www.box.net/shared/ikyndtkuix (better quality, original instrumental tune with 2 solos). I know that there are more "shredders" on this forum that few know can really wail, so it would be cool to hear some of your playing too :)
  24. Here's a guy who is good at impersonating other singer's voices: .
