If we take "Out of control" as an example you really wanna focus on landing on the vowels and pressing in on them. You could see it as pronouncing them clearer, you do this most of the time right, but sometimes you kindo land inbetween some vowels thus making your voice alittle weaker. It's not a mode question at all, more like just a minor tweak to make you sound at your top on all the given pitches in the song AAAAAAAut OHHHHHHHf cOOHHHHntrOOOOOHHHL For example the second out of control in the song, you are very good with landing on the vowels. In that clip i posted im singing in the same setup or mode as you are doing, neutral with twang + distortion. Just keep it in the back of your head to focus abit more on the vowels and you will be alright ;)

Wow great, I can really relate to your technique Sounds really good loved your second try on metalmeltdown. You even added some rattle(the gurgly sound) to some of the screams wich is very cool! One tip wich i found very usefull when singing in the highrange the way you do is to centre the vowels and choosing the right vowel for the type of sound you want. The reason why you wanna do this is quite simple 1. It's a quick fix 2. It gives you alot more power, or the ability to choose for more power and you will manage the "switch" more seamless 3. You can easily alternat soundcolor if you want it more chesty you choose a vowel that makes it so I personaly love using the vowel A, Ah , Eh , Oh for the highrange. Ok mate news of the day, that mental attitude you have towards your voice wont work. You make it so hard for yourself, be proud and love your voice. If you cant do that lie to yourself until you belive it, the voice is so emotionaly attatched that it's crazy, thats why people who end up in life crisis such as family death and such crash their voices. If you have a neggative mindset about your voice your growth will be so much less, on the other hand if you can stay very positive about your voice your growth will increase. Be positive think about your strengths and great qualitys and why you enjoy singing, envision yourself everyday reaching your goals. Rasp or distortion is a technique and can be learnt, there's actualy some threads about this on this forum. If you feel discomfort or your voice is out of place take one or two silent days where you not utter a word, see if that makes any diffrence

Hey nik i just listened to your hallelujah and it was good! Onething you could try to make it sound even better is to sing the song on a legatoline to connect the words and get a better flow in the lyrics. Legato is when you sing a line connected, and treat everyline as a travel from start to finish. I know this was your first time, but try this and resing it, and it will sound more professional.

Well in a song like this(from a rockopera, written for the stage) it's very important that you sing from character as it really is half of the song. and that my friend is a whole science in it self, but one thing that helps is being verygood with pronouncing consonants, maintaining a flow to the lyrics so it feels like your moving forward in the song.

good try ronws, this is one of my favourite songs. A tip I would give is work alot more on your expression and storytelling when singing a song like this, add that extra emotion. this is the best "jesus" all time, get some inspiration from him on how he uses the words to express the feelings in this song.

bara för att du twangar kommer du inte låta som en häxa eller gnällspik, utan snarare så är det en övning för att isolera de muskler som ger din röstbärighet, möjlighet till att skrika samt öka volymen. Twang är även mycket röstvänligt då det bildas ett baktryck i halsen ansatsröret förlängs och tunnas ut vilket gör att stämbanden har lättare att jobba. Oftast kan man separera rätt klart på klangfärg och twang. Yeah your right steven, but i dont think i agree with the glottalclosure, I think he prettymuch sings in what CVT calls curbing and SS calls mixedvoice, and evts cry. If you listen to the start of each phrase you can her how he closes the folds using a cry. What i basicly told him in my post above was to choose from the powervowels OH EH if he wanted to overdrive those notes instead of leaning towards ooo and ii as you can hear if you listen to the clip Edit: there is no true, or untrue voice:P It's only this sound or that sound...

ok now im gonna take this in swedish cause it will make it alot easyer for me to explain to snejk. So if you get superintresed i will try to translate if you ask Okej nu ska vi se om jag kan förklara detta, för det känns som du är lite fel ute låter som en redig tenorkvalla du har på G där vilket är sjukt bra, saken är den att du skall inte overdriva ooo, det är ingen som gör det på en ren ooo vokal för det gör att rösten blir ocentrerad. Om du lyssnar på vilka vokaler du lutar dig mot i klippen så är det nästan uteslutande oooo och iiii. detta tyder på att du drar mot halvmetalliskklang i detta klippet, vilket är jäkligt bra då det är en av de svårare sakerna att bemästra i sång så det är kanon även det som säljer skivor. om du skall powra sådana där toner så föreslår jag att du lutar rösten mot Eh och Oh och använder lite mer twang, då kommer du få den kraften du vill ha lättare.(detta är en helt annan coordination, om du lyssnar på martin på detta forumet så är han sjukt duktigt på detta) Det jag försöker säga dig nu är coordinationen du använder i det här klippet är kanon och du sjunger det rent tekniskt precis som man skall sjunga med den. Då är det bättre att du ändrar inställning istället då det är säkrare vokalen eee går att sjunga med fullkraft, men då måste man verkligen närma sig twangad häxsound, tänk mer dio så är du rätt nära på hans topptoner. Så, om något verkar oklart i detta nu så fråga på är rätt trött så mina formuleringar är inte topp notch:P Nej alla har inte ett mittenregister det är min stora bane G/Giss över tenorC är inte pjåkigt ska du veta och det går visst att träna upp, det är ganska enkelt och mindless jobb om man verkligen vill. Det tar lite tid, men om du menar att du skulle byta bort hela din röst mot det så kan det lätt vara värt att investera 4 minuter om dagen till detta. Jag har en polare som är bas(marcus på detta forum) som inte hade en ton över tenorC i sin röst inräknat falsett. Han tar sopran C nu och ibland högre om han piper, det handlar om att träna ihärdigt och på precis det du vill bli bra på. Som sagt du har ett Giss, prova att du varje dag sjunger upp till den tonen. Du börjar från mitten C och går ton för ton upp till Gisset, repetera så du har sjungit upp till gisset minst 5-6 ggr håll klangen lätt men fega inte och tänk gnäll:P. Gör nu detta varje dag 5 ggr i veckan vila helger, jobba med twang. gör du så kommer falsetten att expandera, i början kom jag på B över tenor C, nu går jag upp till E över sopranC i falsetten. Visslan är bara en gimmick och den funkar inte om man vill använda den live om man sjunger rock som jag gör Användningsområde: jävlas med hundar typ :P
