"Someone's Night" (a song i'm singing on)
Jens replied to rabbitfollows's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
i think what makes you great is whats ruined it for you... Youve got something haunting about your voice, i mean that in à good way. sing abandoned by kamelot or something of that calibre... this is like 5 mins of toneswelling, heck sing something! Give us love joy hate anything! ive heard some songs of you before, never forget your tone. All sounded similar to this, alot of nothing. youve got that kind of voice you Want to hear tell à story, youve got alot of emotion in your voice wich very few have. you Channel that into like lalalaaaaaaa ooooohh laaaa lööööö... Edit: what im trying to say is youve got a great voice, use it ... ;) -
Covering Robert Lunte Souls of silence
Jens replied to Jens's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
thanks for the nice replies I actualy tried to do less distortion, but it didnt really suit the song or the mood i was aiming for. The track is actualy really heavy and very proggy when i tried to do less it kindo sounded like you put in a sleezemetal singer in there hehe Edit: yeah Rob did a great job, inspired me to try :) -
Hey i really loved Roberts song so i decided to give it a go. It turned out it was a really hard song both vocaly and musicaly so i learned alot. I tried a little diffrent approach that Rob did i aimed more for a Russel allen(symphony x) so know it's up to you to review if i succeeded or failed Cheers

New To Forum, wondering "voice type"
Jens replied to TheMutantTurtle's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
The Jenses stand united, dont let anyone put you in à fach right now. they always Said i was à baritone now all of à Sudden im à tenor range can be expanded like crazy -
yeah My advise is mainly just à small thing you can add to make your screams alot more impressive without actualy changing much. Your technique is solid and screams are great, as you Said à change of dynamics would make it better But i know how it is when you have à bandgoing crazy and doing à harder style
-
well this is how i think one shold use screams but im on the other hand a big daniel heiman fanboi
-
I think youre very good, those screams are top notch. But i think some things you need to work on is having diffrent intensity levels. Everytime you sing it feels like your on intensitylevel 10 out of 10 it's very good but the screams Will be more effective if you go alittle less intensive before à scream, it becomes alot more dramatic. Listen to jorn lande or daniel heiman on how they build up into the screams, sometimes super powernotes gets abit lost due to all the other power cheers :)

heck if you put in the time you can get what you want, you can get both chest up and above g4 aswell as an fullsounding headvoice. When your voice gets strong there's alot less limitations, but i suggest you should be figuring out headvoice as it's a great tool! Remember youve gotta follow the rules to be able to bend them -
I always think this is so comfusing. Everything depends on what you define as headvoice... All lownotes resonates in the chest( despite of vocalquality or fold depth) Low falsettonotes also resonates n chest All middlevoice notes resonates in themouth( regardless of vocalquality or fold depth ) And all highnotes resonates in head( regardless of vocalquality or fold depth) ... Ok here comes the problem Powerfull lownotes resonates more in the head, Than high headnotes... This is the truth you can test this out or yourself, put your hand on your scalp sing à very powerfull lownote, then sing à very heart powerfull note, you Will only feel vibrations n the head when you sing the lownote... Here is My defention of thevoice, the voice can be described in coordinations rather Than the old chest headvoice terms. To me chestvoice is à full fold sound, meaning the folds has to connect very deep for it to be graded as " chest" Chestvoice: shout mechanism, speech mechanism , and to some extent the cry, and whine mechanism Headvoice : is not à full fold sound, th folds touch, yes bu they dont vibrate on the depth as the " chest" does

Yeah thats the spirit! I really know where your comming from, when i started out i could go past E4 if it so where to save my life. Several vocalcoaches even told me i would never be able to sing tenor and hit highnotes because My voice where to low(funny thing is i didnt have any lownotes either)and not flexible...But i really really wanted it, with that Said you can only improve from here. Go at it, give it time to settle and you wont have trouble going even higher :)
-
Not Correct? I disagree completly, what he needs is just basicly more time "up" there, wich is probably what he's doing. He releases very Well, gets abit unstable for à second but nothing major and worth focusing on that time and just going for it wont fix. It also depends on what sound he's going for, it's not like there's some universal "correct" way to sound there are just sounds, maybe he was going for à Little darkercolor up on top

Bah, come on mate you know it's good! It's à great practicerun, i think you feel that to... doesnt even sound like your putting yourself to test...

DJ Deth sings Alanis Morisette
Jens replied to DJDeth's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
Soo cool mate! How did you get ur middlevoice so free and open for example the lead on the chourus? Im having trouble with that area in My voice. -
ronws not to be a bitch but im afraid science is against you since voiceproduction(speaking, singing) is learned and not a natural thing to do. The folds first function is acting like guarddogs for the lungs the second function is speech and sound. gotta agree with djdeth here, you can learn how to get a similar vocalsetting to your heroes. But sure genetics always plays a part, and some are more talented than others ect ect.
-
djdeth add me to msn: jens_86_johansson@hotmail.com and il share you some songs :)
-
i agree with all, and please do master of the wind as your next track! ive always wanted to be able to nail thatone ;)
