  1. great job Felipe. nice to hear that song again and your voice sounds great. I noticed you're using some AKG headphones - I've got a couple of the k240's which I love. Those look different?
  2. Excellent job! And good work on the video production too.... a lot of work went into that. Good way to work in your kids.
  3. It is excellent. Not sure how you can improve it more. Well done
  4. Sounds nice Ron. Again you captured the spirit of the song. And your guitar playing is really good - intricate finger picking and keeping rhythm the whole time. That takes some stamina.
  5. I love it! Really like the different textures going on and that snare sound. Actually both snares - that ringy one and the more traditional rock snare. I like the bass line that comes in. Vocals sound great - excellent scream. Lyrics are great.
  6. That's interesting - I use an impulse called Bright Plate too for all my faster rock songs. I can't remember where I got it. It may be the same one you're using. I like it's transparent sound and it doesn't color the voice.
  7. Great job on this one. Great use of distortion / grit - very tasty. Powerful vocal performance. I like the vocal processing on this one - nice reverb and the right amount. What kind of reverb are you using? Convolution?
  8. Well done! Good to see you here again Mike. This not an easy song. These Journey songs lie in a high tessatura and Steve sings those songs with a lighter weight to save his voice. I thought your voice was rock solid - great tone all the way through. The reverb didn't bother me at all. I thought it was well mixed.
  9. Sounded really good to me. You are able to control the dynamics very well in that range. Your voice sounds free of tension.
  10. I thought you sounded really good on this one. Your voice fits the song nicely, and it didn't sound like it lacked passion at all. You had really good dynamic phrasing - soft or strong depending on the emotion of the phrase... and it sounded quite natural. That's a tough song. It's actually the last song I recorded, and I'm still working on it.
  11. Nice job Ron. You did the song justice. Nice to hear that song again....I forgot how much I liked Neil's writing.
  12. Sounds absolutely beautiful arouna. Welcome to the forum. Even if your never sang for another person you must have done a lot of singing on your own. You have a very soulful approach. And you possess an advanced sense for phrasing and dynamics which is the most important thing for a singer ( beyond technique ). If you want to sing in a band you should do some more YouTube recordings but include a backing track. In a band setting, things that are crucial such as pitch accuracy and your sense for rhythm, are not tested in the acapella version. Singing to a background track will give us more clues as to things you may need work on.
  13. Great job! Vocals are excellent. Your band is very tight and good mix. I liked the lights and stage effects. It's nice to see our members in action.
  14. No, not at all. Didn't notice and now that you say it, I don't think it needs it. However, if you want to add grit I'm sure that would also sound good.
  15. Nice job. Good solid performance. You kept up a great rhythm guitar the whole way through. The only thing for me was I kept wanting you to go up to the G4 in the chorus. I think your voice would sound cool on that note.
  16. Nice mix. I think the vocals came out good - nice performances. On the loudness of the vocals - yeah I think the vocals need a bit more processing. I think more compression, and definitely needs some high frequency boosting. And maybe a better short reverb that is properly EQ'd. At this point the vocal lacks sparkle that can lead you to think the vocals aren't loud enough. I think they are loud enough, except in the high frequencies.
  17. Some creative vocal riffs in Enter Sandman - I liked it. Good tone and you certainly have a good feel for the song. It seems that at times you are carrying too much weight and that may be affecting the pitch in certain spots - but those spots are few.
  18. George - Thank you, and an interesting comment about Lunte's singing that I never heard before. Olem - Thanks for your comments. I was wondering if anyone objected to those belted notes. I kind of threw in at the last moment, so I didn't work on them too much. I just thought a 3rd chorus needed a significant change. I didn't back away from the mic and these high notes felt very powerful and bright, so they are a little overpowering. I used to play around with volume envelopes to correct that, but lately, if it doesn't sound right I just sing it over again, and I let the compressors do their job. Aside from that, I liked the way they came out, and they felt right. They didn't feel strained.
  19. Foreinger - Thank you for the nice comments! Adolph - Thanks a lot. Yeah, someday I will start producing videos. Gneetapp - Thank you!
  20. That put a smile on my face:). Nice job!
  21. Sounds fabulous. Your harmonies are very tight, which is not always easy to do. And the main vocals are superb.
