David , the singing is great, which is what I expected... but I have to admit, Im more taken by the visuals on this one... which are also really cool. Video editing has become something Im working more with these days...

    Questions:

1). Where do you meet your "band"... collaborators... its clear this is a virtual project. Are you using some kind of special collaboration platform or service for this?  Would be curious to know.

2). What kind of video editing software are you using?

3). Also... duck into the recording forum and share with the community your technology chain... DAW, Interface, pre-amp, microphones, etc... that would be interesting for people I think...

Cool David... for sure, I know its going to be great... Former student and homie from Seattle. David, we need to have that coffee...

    Also, two things:

1). Upload a picture to your profile so you have an identity and it helps make the forum look more cool... surely you have a lot of cool shots you could use.

2). If you just embed the YouTube URL into the post, it will automatically embed and magically appear, which makes it more cool and gives you a better presentation... For example:

I just copied and pasted your URL... also, I put some tags on your post...

Great to see you in here sharing with the community... shoot me a private email and lets catch up over some coffee or beer.

Vd = [2*k*I*D]/cm, assuming that the wire is copper, then you can have a value of k=12.9.

    Oh wait, wrong math ...
I = VA/(E*1.732) or VA/(E*[3^.5]) as it happens to be the square root of three if you analyzing 3 phase power using Pythagora's Theorem, though I had initially solved it through spherical trig.

    Wait, wrong math ....

Actually, there is a formula for tube resonance that I can't remember just now. And you might look into the Bernoulli Effect.

Wish I could take the credit for the starting falsetto, but I cant since it belongs to the great Freddie Mercury!

But yes, the upper range is my voice

AWESOME! Really really liked it man! Nice timbre and emotion. This song always gets me if I start paying attention to the lyrics. You did such a good job dialing down so much the "cartoonish voice" that it almost disappeared completely. Although you can still hear it creeping in when you sang "time can bring you down, time can BEND your knees..." during the bridge, and in just a few places, but almost unnoticed, just a hint. Very good job, congrats.

Aravind this is good! Nice interpretation. You definitely need more songs like this.

Also a good thing about this song is you can learn to use more of your natural voice without worrying about things like range. To me you can still sound more "natural" on this but I'm just talking about your tone here. I would like to hear a deeper warmer tone. I know you have it but you've been hiding it from us

Beast.. I will do that..I have long wanted to cover "Silent lucidity" by Queensryche and i will post it in a few days.. That is about as low as I can go.. I will also recording me speaking so that you can see if there is any difference..

I understand what you mean by "Home base" for the voice.  I have historically recorded an practiced with effects on and I am pretty sure it has affected the way I sing, practice and record.  Only very recently I started recroding with "direct monitor" and instantly I could feel a difference.  I am also buying an amp for my headphones, since the volume with direct monitoring is very low on 2i2 with my headphones(HD 280 pro).. I am not happy with how I hear my voice.  I am hoping it will help.. Also, it took me a long time to learn to bridge and connect properly and I did not frankly speaking focus on tone at all till.

Till very very recently, I had no idea how to sing low and middle range notes(maybe I still don't).  I used to get out of breath very soon while singing legatos.  Only after reading your feedback about spoken voice, I started to think about it and started singing a little differently.

I feel that the various parts of my voice are coming together and I will be able to see some improvements in the months to come..

Thanks Bono.. I wouldn't try this out in an audition!  My approach to singing is always to try to sing the song out of my reach or "just" out of my reach/skill set.. I have nothing to lose in this forum and I always hear interesting feedback that takes me to newer areas/styles that I would't normally know.

I agree with Gneetapp only from the perspective of how close you want to get to the original. You technically did the notes at the right pitch. In the original, "lay it on the line" is more of a cry than the kind of belty sound you did. But that is an aesthetic consideration and only valid if you are trying to sound like the original singer. I do like the cackle you get on the high notes. It gives a little rasp that makes that note jump out and bite the listener.

Hey Aravind, You were singing pretty much all the notes right, but it felt shouty to me, as if you were trying to push hard to reach the notes. I think you would benefit if you added the cry to your singing. As this song is light and more mellow, you don't need to approach it as a typical hard rock song, you can go a bit lighter just adding the cry, and it will also help you conserving energy. Still, awesome first attempt! Way better than when I first tried this. If you need help to understand how to produce the cry I talked about, you could check Tony O'Hora's videos (vocal power UK). When I first watched them they didn't help me at all because I didn't get how he did it, but then it made so much sense to me. I hope it helps. Keep on rocking man!

Hey Ronws, nice work! I could not hear nasality, and you were in tune for the vast majority of the song, and in control of your head voice. But I think your voice could benefit of a little more reverb because it sounded (IMO) with less reverb than the guitar, which was well played. I think I get what Vats meant with a beefier sound, and I agree, as I told you once that I like the other head voice (mix voice?) you use sometimes. I just don't remember now which song was that. I think you could use the really light sound for stylistic effects instead of all the time. I don't mean belting instead of the light approach either, but the mix voice/cry/twang. Sorry I don't know the right technical terms, but I'm not a vocal coach or an advanced vocal student, as you know. Overall, great sound man! Keep on rocking!

"Effortless" is right, especially in the "heroic" parts around F#4 and B4. I love it, I think its brilliant light mass belting.  It was super productive and fun to train with him for a week as well. Great edging vowels, great palette.

I have to say, I am also very proud of the production. The audio recording, camera work and edit was great. In a smaller sense, it is also a triumph in how to make relatively quick video productions that sound and look great. Audio recording + video in synch. Good strong start.

About the Young man in an Old mans body.... I feel your pain. Just had a birthday and now I have been on this earth more than half a century.  One of my vocal challenges is trying to make my voice not sound like a teenager when singing. People talk about rockers blowing out their voice before 30. I am still working on getting my voice strong enough to sing Aerosmith and Foreigner. Maybe by the time I am 60 I will have my voice sounding like Steven Tyler when he was 18.

That depends. Do we have to match his original sound? That was before he took some singing lessons to save his voice.

    Hi guys,

I just thought it would be fun to post a short clip of me singing Eye of the tiger into my mobile phone. It's been a while since I posted a song and I just dug this one up and decided to let it fly here for the fun of it. Been buisy singing lots of different songs in a cover band for the past few years, actually. Here it is:
