  1. you crack while you overdrive ooo because it's not a vowel you overdrive on, rather a heldback pne. this has nothing to do with your fach, you sound like a tenor to me if thats your normalspeakingvoice your singing in. your voice is light and agile and you manage the middleregister with ease, im nowhere near that skill. edit: oh and youve got a epic voice, forgot to say that in the first post bra jobbat! som fan :P
  2. Hey Snax my man! I just listened to the track you posted, and you do have that brian sound going... But I know for sure you can do tons better than this, actualy im kindo dissappointed that you more or less tried to mimic brian's sound. Not that im against mimicing your favourite vocalists sounds, but I honestly prefer your voice to Brian's voice anyday of the week so im just selfish. A great tip though on building your topvoice is singing songs and traiding words for a verytwanged quack, i think analog demonstrated this exercise in the middlerange somewhere on this forum. It also works wonders for the highrange. :P
  3. I liked the first track you put up the best, both the song and how your vocals turned out there where some pitch issue here and there but I think you will sort it out. You throw in alot of wails in the song wich is nice and I think suits the song but it's almost exclusivly then you get abit pitchy, a tip you can do is songmap(take out what notes you sing) your wails and train the seperatly with a piano so you are 100% sure your hitting the keys. This is a great way to really nail those wails because you work it into the musclememory and the voice will be adjusted to the very fast pitchchanges and not throw you slighly off. You got a radiofriendly voice wich is easy to listen to keep it up Yepp im a vocalist, i was just in the studio recording a demo for my band so il probably post that when we get the mixes done.
  4. I think you have a coolvoice kindo reminds me of jamesblunt, youve got that ease to you highnotes and you just "float" through your whole range, this is a good thing. I would really love to hear you singout some song, youknow when you go for it with a little more volume. I do think your voice suited those songe great how would it sound if you sung in a similar style to this? This song is a bitch so im not implying you should sing this entrie pieace, but if you can I will never forgive you. Just kidding but i would love to hear how your voice sounds in a simlilar way of singing :P
  5. get a working link or upload to speedyshare.com alot easyer then searching the whole web for you tracks :P
  6. "stay away from grit as much as you can.. no offense to anyone.. using it as an 'effect', or in the studio..is common... but minimize its usage in the live arenas. It's a cool effect when used in moderation, but dangerous if used too much" None taken, but i cant agree with your statement The thing with distortion is that it's created with the falsefolds and shaping of the vocaltract, this makes it totaly harmless if the technique is good. If not on the other hand you can hurt yourself, but thats how it is with all singing techniques. You can make the comparison to opera, alot of people lose their voices trying to sing opera does that make opera dangerous? With the right understanding and training you can sing with distortion almost as long as without as with all effects it requires a little bit more support. Other then that great post! I realy like you approach :)
  7. Your voice rocks overall, realy good youve got the completepackage great range and great tone keep up whatever your doing ;)
  8. No seventh fear i dont agree, to be able to sing high song you gotta try and practice those pitches. You need to work on high pitched songs if you wanna sing them, incorporate them with good technique. So your point is if he trained on that song making it better for lets say 5 months he would sound worse in the end? In singing specialy nothing realy is black and white, what works a way for you does not nessecarily work for the person standing next to you. Your mimicing sounds all the way from the moment you started forming words with your mouth til now, a personal sound and voice and not copying someone is an illusion.
  9. Seventh fear... Just because a song is more challenging for you doesnt not mean you will hurt yourself, you cant realý hear strain you know...
  10. Your such a tenor! keep up this pace you have and you can be whatever you want!Gaah im getting very envious now ;)
  11. To be with you is a very very hard song to tackle, crazy you take it on your first time on stage, sounded great!
  12. Jon Pall I think it's very good that you post all these covers! Man it's great how much youve improved since I heard you the first time, if all singers had your dedication we sure would see alot more good singers My biggest tip to you is continue to train how you do it, because it's certainly working.
  13. Man jonpall youve got many aces upi your sleave! greatjob realy liked you shook me all night long :D
  14. Well yeah curbing is usualy the mode thats hardest to control so it's a huge feat in itself! usualy when you hear singers they have their base in curbing in the C4-C5 range and throw in overdrives and edge when they want alittle more punch. Im gonna try to throw in some of your approach into my training, it's certainly seams to work Thanks for the tips! Ahh to bad you dont have msn or some similar service so we could chatt, im not so keen on giving exercises without the right knowledge and continuous demonstrations. Specialy not on distortion :P
  15. As many has pointed out in this forum singing high isnt everything. But to answear your post, C4-C5 is a bitch for me I dont in anyway sing as good as you in the C4-C5 area, and im realy impressed by your nice quality in that range. B And I belive that if you put in alittlemore work you could get tons more range(If thats what you want) cause you seamed to have great control over all the notes in this song! Im currently working very very hard with my range in the C4-C5 to get a more connected and better quality and most of all more choices to my sound. If you would analyse my voice using CVT it leans verymuch towards Metallikeneutral in the highrange sometimes i end up in light curbing in the middle but more or less Im a neutralbased singer. Thats also one of the things that makes it easyer singing in the very high range. So if youve got any tips about how you worked your voice i will be happy, il probably write a thread soon about my weaknesses Oh and if you want to have some distortiontips you can add me to Msn Jens_86_johansson@hotmail.com Ive got some good exercises i can send you :)
  16. Man your voice is killer! im very very envious, i realy would like to sing aswell in the C4-C5 range!
  17. Sounds realy cool, im not a big fan of king diamond but he has his charm:) your vocals sounds cool realy nice highnotes
  18. Man(girl) you are realy good! i realy like those fast runs you did on your headvoice in the start of the vocaldemo
  19. well on that painkiller clip you need alot more pharyngealvoice/twang to get that edge you want to the sound for a song like that. I used to have the same problem as you until I practised the pharyngeal, it realy helps. Du kan ju adda mig: jens_86_johansson@hotmail.com om du vill ha ngn övning eller nått :)
  20. Ok i think your doing fine, but why dont you record this song at daytime so you can singout? C ause thats whats causing you problems, your not supporting the notes enough probably cause your scared of your folks. Thats why you get pitchy at spots, so singout or try to sing in that quiet tone with more support, singing quiet almost requires more support than the counterpart. I almost get the feeling that you are abit afraid of your voice well done anyways keep up the good work!
  21. The thing with twang is that if you have fullcontrol over it, it wíll give you so much freedom and choice. Almost all naturalsinger who's voices seams to go on forever have tons of twang on and they are realy comfortable in those configurations. Theirvoices naturaly loses weight and it doesnt feel strange in their voices, as opposed to my voice who always have wanted to pull up the vocalweight ive had in my lowerregister.
  22. Yeah i know the feeling, but this is a start towards that goal, often if you dont have it already it will take time to build a chesty range and have control over it. I think you sound tons better in that clip when you try doing it twanged and it's a good try. Practice that more and you will find your voice connect alot more it takes time
