  1. OMG this song is sooo very difficult to sing. I had a very hard time finding the right weight for the high oarts in the chorus - too heavy made my flip, so it's headvoice (for now) The segway right before the guitar solo was a pain as well. My plan here is to go back and actually practice these Kamelot songs and master them. But, I do not think this one sounds tooo bad the way it is now.
  2. I totally think I could have done it 10X better had I taken the time and focused.. But, we had to eat lol
  3. So, this is my cover of Sacrimony so far.. it is a tiring song, and I recorded it while walking with a handheld mic in the kitchen making dinner. I plan re-recording it tomorrow, since this is a bust. But, I'll post it here anyway, just for kicks. Also, there are some vocal cracks when my voice doesn't know what to do. I'll have to smooth them out too.
  4. Better breath support would mean a cleaner sound (less airy). Other than that, I liked them both. Also, if you train and keep singing with lots of air in your voice, it will be a hard habit to break. Unless your target sound is airy, you should work on that. Loved the "what would do" section of more than words - that is the perfect spot to sing with that airy soft tone, and you pulled it off nicely!
  5. Thanks for the kind words man! I plan on covering the whole Silverthorn cd, so I'll post them as I complete them. :)
  6. Thanks alot! I al glad you liked it I love Roy Khan!
  7. Awesome, and it sounds like you had fun singing it!
  8. Thanks Ron Was the recording better than the other one?
  9. Your C5 was flipping between falsetto and head voice,( most likely due to not modifying the vowel). Thats most likely what Ron meant. Sounds like the very top of your range and not quite usable. Classification does not matter in any situation, unless you are singing opera. A person can practice and change their classification, if they want. A lower tenor is what I would say. But, understand that if you have NOT trained and are going to start training, that could change.
  10. Switched mics today to the Rode M2, I think it sounds better. I also reduced the amount of reverb. There is compression and some light eq'ing. This is another first attempt. Let me know what you guys think I need to brush up on.
  11. Thanks Chav. I'll try and correct the recording issues when I have some $$ :)
  12. Thanks Geno! I took a few months off for school , and I am just starting to get "it" back. Glad ya liked it.
  13. Without being able to see you and hear you, it will be difficult to help you.... Do you warm up? When you warm up, do you sing loud or soft? Do you drink a gallon of water every day? Do you smoke?
  14. Thanks Owen, I am using a AT2020, which was free when you buy a set of 3 At live mics for $100.00 lol. Not the greatest mic. I am going to try to use my Rode condensor mic net time. Yeah, the timing is difficult in this song.
  15. Thanks Ron ofr listening. I mixed it with sony walkman heaphones - I still do not have any flat monitors :(
  16. Perfect! That's what I expected. You can enunciate all the words just fine. Also, I am missing a few teeth myself lol.
  17. I asked about that because I want to hear your pronunciation of all the words while not singing. lol. I know, may sound like an odd request.
  18. I like that you are doing songs that go low lol. I would like to hear what it sounds like if you just say the lyrics to this song in your normal voice. As with Owens latest post, it sounds like the both of you are leveraging your tongue to the point of losing some pronunciation. I may be wrong, of course - I usually am! Other than that, I thought is was great for a practice run. Lots of feeling, and very little noticeable pitch flaws. You playing and singing at the same time, or did you sing over your guitar track?
  19. Other than some pitchyness, you brought some epic feeling with this one! Like, a Freedie/Neil Diamond epic kinda thing. I really liked it!
