Preview the contents of the program, Whatch the videos and pay attention. There are a lot of insights that will get you ready mentally when you are ready physically to stat the training.
You may not be ready to do a full blown exercise but there are some onsets that you can work on without getting too physical with them.
Good luck and I hope get well soon.

    Hey Champ,

Ya, ok... but this presents another issue. How long have you had 4Pillars?
Look, I often hear this, ... "I want to wait a while until I get this done or that module finished or the book read... ", etc..
Don't get trapped into a procrastination cycle!!!

You do two things... you study the course work while at the same time, you train the workouts; onsets, ITRs, etc...
Not one after the other, its both at the same time... Your in the gym now, get going, start working out.

Yeah! Your timbre is really good for this song JonJon! I liked it. I can totally relate to you regarding the high pitch passages man. But it takes good technique and good practice to even things out. Good sound.

Adolph Namlik reacted to Draven Grey in Head/Mixed/Belt, big thank you.
I've been teaching a lot of new students lately, so haven't had time to dive into the course as much lately. Granted, I've been teaching the onsets in more of a TVS way now, and have noticed a big improvement on helping my student's get results even faster than before, not just that but pinpoint issues extremely fast too. For myself, it has given me a lot more control over my voice as well, but in ways I didn't know were even an issue. This is exactly the type of program I've been looking for, since I feel I'm already pretty advanced in my singing.
I'm writing this just to say thank you for one thing in particular. After learning the lift up/pull back technique, using TVS coordination onsets, and even contract & release (although I overused it at first, ouch, lol!), my opened up my voice more than I thought possible. Before, I could easily sing a C5, even up to an E5 while belting, but only for about 30 minutes before feeling some fatigue. I could even belt up to a G#5 for a very short period. With the fatigue, I figured I was pushing too hard, but didn't know another way. So, with the new album being written, I simply started writing and altering my songs to stay lower in pitch than that.
After practicing TVS methodology, I quickly realized just how much a belt is truly just head voice with TA being added. With this realization, I could suddenly control the volume and pressure of my belting much more than before. I can belt the E5 for hours now. To be clear, I know the difference in sensation and sound from a true belt vs. falsetto with twang or added harshness. I haven't ventured much above that, since I currently still fight the urge to push. The last time I belted the G#5, I was teaching a soprano a certain song, and didn't realize how high I was singing until it started hurting 15 minutes in. Then it was too late, I had pulled a muscle and it took me 3 months to recover. Needless to say, I'm overly cautious about belting above the E5 now. Not that I normally sing anything that calls for anything higher than that anyway.
I'm very excited about this discovery, and I'm looking forward to the lesson on belting to refine it even more. Thank you for taking the pressure off my upper belt range. This will be extremely important as The Silent Still begins to tour our Rock Circus Masquerade production at the end of this year.

Definitely reminiscent of Zep with the slight haze of a funny cigarette of rolled up Zappa and Mothers of Invention. Way cool, I really like this. And I think you are achieving the Jimmy Page wall of guitars thing in this one.

I wasnt thinking Zep at all except that I could really hear some typical Robert Plant yelps and screams being laid over the 2nd bridge. BTW that chord at 2:57ish is the opening chord from Diary of a Madman lol. Its just begging for some Robert Plant/Ian Gillan stuff

Zep? I have a lot of Zep influence that comes out from time to time. I havent been in a big Zep phase lately but it will come out when its ready. Here is some old Zeppish stuff

Hi JonJon, I liked it. I could totally feel the Zeppelin vibe in the verses, but I also picked up some AIC/STP in the chorus (especially the instrumental part). Even though I'm not a big fan of the psychedelic style, I liked it, and I honestly think this song deserves to be polished and finished. I felt that the first "I call on the maker" phrase in the chorus, sounded weird (for my personal taste). You are a writing/recording machine. Keep on rocking man!

Hey JonJon, this is only the 2nd original song I listened from you, and I got to tell you that I really dig your songs man! I could get the Jagger feel you mentioned, but I don't think it sounded as an imitation, more like a little influence. Well done. Regarding the sung melody, I had a feeling that you were singing a mix of lead and harmony vocals. Maybe because my brain was tricked to expect higher pitched vocals when you started to go higher. But then you went back down. I understand that you just recently managed to bridge registers, and it was probably the reason why you didn't stay higher. If I may humbly suggest (or request) you to play around with higher harmonies, at least as backing vocals. Nevertheless, it sounds really good already. You just got another fan...

Here's a song I've been working on in the studio. I really liking the way it"s turning out. I have to go back for an hour or two and fix a few things and make a few tweaks but its sounding pretty cool I think. The song took me about 15 minutes to write and it's turning out to be one of my favorites. I love how all the instruments are coming together.

I don't know what DAW you are using but Robert has a link to a site where you can buy a backing track for about a dollar. And you can order it how you want it. With background vocals, without, etcetera. Usually downloads as an mp3 but you can choose other file types. Just remember that wav files are the best, data-wise but they can be huge. 10 to 15 MB for a 4 to 5 minute song. You can drag that mp3 into an open track in your DAW. Depending on interface, you should have live monitor. If you don't, you really need to get one. My first interface did not have it. So, what I would do is pan the backing track hard right and pull off my left head phone to monitor my voice acoustically (reflective surfaces are closer on my left where I am recording.)
This would allow you a better balance of music and voice. Right now, your voice is overpowering the music.
For the singing, you must absolutely realize and accept as a physical law of the universe the fact that singing is different than speaking. Right now, you are speaking this song. In the chorus, when you roll your ah forward and closer to an oh for "eyes," yes, that gives you a bit a punk accent and similar to what Billy is doing. What you need to do is think of that everywhere else. Singing is vowels and articulation. And articulation for singing is different than speaking.
So, in the mornings, wake up, put on your slippers, whatever other morning ablutions you must do and repeat this mantra, "the singing voice is a musical instrument." Because it is, just as much as a guitar, piano, drums, flute, whatever. It is a musical instrument and you are a musician if you are singing. And, in so doing, you will approach vowels more cleanly and articulate softer to the degree that allows the vowels a straight shot out. What goes up, must come down. The earth spins on its axis creating sunrise and sunset. The sky is blue, the ground is firm, water is wet, and the singing voice is a musical instrument. So, there it is, one of the physical laws of the universe.
I think this song is a good match for you and you have a naturally good tone of voice and in a few places, you sound similar to Billy. I would definitely keep this song in your list of songs that you can and should perform, either for others or for more permanent recording.

Going by GneeTaps suggestion, I wrote a chorus only today. Worked numerous hours for an 11 second snippet lol.
    workflow was along these lines:
    1) Drums programmed yesterday
    2) Started writing melody in D...starting on the highest note and working down. Starting note is (supposed to be anyway lol) a G#4 which is the flat5 in the key of D
    3) started putting down a few scratch guitar parts using practice amp
    4) sort of bounced back and forth between finalizing the melody and changing the guitar to fit better
    5) Sang all the lead VX
    6) Layered all the BGV. 4 separate lines, all doubled. It gets a little into the Eagles/Queen/Boston/Yes vibe
    7) Redid all the guitar parts (still just used practice amp though). 2 main parts, both doubled
    8) added bass
    9) mixed....while falling asleep about 10x

Anyway, let me know how it sounds. if nothing else its pretty interesting
Here are all the various parts....pretty trippy hearing the layered vocal track by itself

Lead Vx only, definitely at the top end of my range https://clyp.it/uv0tgitn
BGV only, 4 separate parts, each doubled (see if u can pick out the parts) https://clyp.it/bvfb0lkn

I think Collin can say what he wishes, because it is just an opinion. I had to go through this myself, and I am older than most everyone here except for MDEW, Bob, and Adolph. I can cover a song like "Leader of the Band" and only two other people in this whole forum even know of that song, at least until we started having threads on it. And none of the young guys commented on it, it was outside of their experience. Which is okay.
Granted, Collin's comments seem more geared toward production values and state of finish. And you said it was not finished, to begin with. Kind of like you saying, "this is blue," and someone else says, "this is blue," and you say, "what do you mean it's blue?"
In the end, we don't get to control the audience, their age, what they like or don't like. It is what it is.

as a 22 yr old who looks 12, critiquing the work of a 48 yr old, u r fighting an uphill battle lol. (you'll understand that when you r twice as old as u r now)
that being said, any and all feedback is what it is...one should take it for what it's worth. Even if its framed in a douchey way, there may still be some truth to it lol

Im sort of at the point in my singing and songwriting where I like about 30% of what I am putting out. In other words I have a lonnnngggg way to go before I really impress MYSELF. So I am not too surprised that others arent too impressed either.
If u take it that I like the singing of Lenny Wolf, Robert Plant, C Cornell, L Staley then u can see I have a ways to go.
And musically I love stuff like old vanHalen, Blue Murder, BulletBoys....yet my vibe so far isnt even in that universe....so I have a ways to go to get nearer the sound that I am after.
Just struggling to find the right drum track is like an endless thing. That in itself determines like 80% of the vibe

lastly, production is a HUGE subject...a lot of bland stuff can be made to sound epic and a lot of good songs can sound sucky all due to production. So in addition to singing, writing, and playing the instruments, when you hear one of my originals you are also hearing the production. It's a long uphill slog lol
So a song like this one, conceived, written, recorded, produced all in one day...it aint gonna be perfect lol
