    Your Review:
    - Super cool punchy guitar... very Alice In Chains - ish in my first impression... I also hear you yarling, tongue retractions to make the vowels more soulful.
    - Perhaps the onsets on the high / m2 chorus could be a bit more straight in and less scooping in... but I am hard press to complain too much. It is pretty bad ass. Like it a lot.
    - 2:03 - 2:08 ... I liked the onsets and execution here on this part... very tight.
    - The B4 on the chorus has a great tone. Good resonance and vowel.
    - The vocals seem a bit buried in the mix... could get it a big hotter...
Overall, this is great. GREAT WORK BROTHER!... ITS REALLY COOL.

Hi guys, I haven't been on the forum in quite a while. I have been busy working and also super busy with my various bands and projects. This is from my band Tair. Normally in this group I play guitar and sing harmony and some lead vox not unlike Jerry Cantrell. We do mainly rock in the vein of Foo Fighters and Alice in Chains type material but this song I wrote just didn't really fit into our normal material so I just finished it on my own because I hate to leave ideas unfinished lol. Anyways, I have mainly recorded cover songs for review on the forum but I have never posted my original material so I thought I would see what you think?

Hi Simon, I haven't been on site for awhile as I have been very busy musically and otherwise lol. I agree with Roberts opinion. There are several areas you need to develop to keep your voice strong and connected and Roberts course will get you there. I do just want to mention this tho.....I don't believe it was horrible and I think the lesson to learn is what you probably are feeling is that you know you are not singing as proficiently as Rob Halford is and you know you need to improve. Most people even professionals sometimes will admit to me that they HATE the sound of their own voice coming back out of the speaker just as many people can hate to hear their own voice on an Voicemail message etc. I was guilty of pre-excusing my voice before playing people recordings of myself to blunt the attack I guess lol. If I mention it is horrible to begin with then nobody will probably add that to their critique haha. I still don't always love to hear my own voice and constantly try to improve but I have learned to know when I am in key and singing properly and whether that is tone that others like or not isn't my concern. As a singer you have to make the leap and not ask for permission to sing to an audience and offer disclaimers ahead of time. Embrace your voice and learn how to use it and develop the confidence in your instrument to entertain people and make music that YOU enjoy. Once you do this and have fun the audience will come along with you even if you don't love your voice always remember that John Lennon hated the sound of his voice and was constantly looking for ways to process it so he could tolerate it. I feel your pain brother, one of the best compliments a friend gave me on an early recording was that "it sounds great, it doesn't even sound like you" lol. Not that I was trying to sound like anyone else but rather that he also understood my insecurity at that time with my voice. Train with Robert and the rest will fall into place. If you want to sing like Halford etc you are at the right place.

I like both ideas. I have a home recording setup but when I am in "Idea Collection" mode I tend to just turn on a mic or a guitar etc and lay down the ideas quick and dirty lol. I will often do this until I have maybe a half hour or more of song ideas. I wrote a song the other day when I went back to the beginning of a 45 min doodle location and had forgot all about the ideas I put down at the beginning of the song location! I refined it etc. but I think trying to capture the vibe is the most important thing when trying to archive an ideas to develop later.

That's fantastic! I can't wait to hear you recorded properly with a good condenser mic etc. You have a very marketable voice and given the proper treatment can stand next to any great singer I have heard. Keep us posted on any recording plans

George, I always really appreciate your kind comments and encouragement. You are right, I need to talk it to the next level. When I won fasttract last year, part of the deal was time in a recording studio. I am waiting for that to happen.

Hi Ellise, love the song! I agree with Robert. You are really a star in the making and as much as talent is needed I would say that sometimes today if the production isn't what people are used to seeing/hearing they don't pay as much attention. I don't like this as I can hear what an amazing voice you have but to so many people if something distracts them from the way they are used to hearing things etc they can tune out fast. You are poised to make it. You have the talent, drive and looks to do it. I would really try to start getting pro recordings of your voice. If there are any recording schools in your area you should see if they need any session singers for the students to work with. There is a big school in Orlando and I know they have recording labs with students where the recording that are made you get to keep. Plus they sometimes have video programs as well they could help you with your vids as well. I know lots of these students and they are very eager for people to work with/experiment on lol. Point is you are ready for the next level. I can tell you that you have what it takes and have a very mature talent for your age. That being said I can tell you that TIME FLIES BY lol (boy does it ever) and a Beautiful and talented 17-20 year old is sooooo much more impressive and easier to get somewhere in the industry than an older artist. I believe its just because if you are really a great singer etc but are like 30 everyone is like (Eh, they should be good by now, lol) But if you strike while you are still young you will have such an advantage. I can see you have the drive. The competitions etc you have the talent. You really need to just work on the last bits and you will make it as an artist I am sure. I wish I had a time machine and could talk to a 16-17 year old me, I really missed the boat haha.

A great version of one of my ALL TIME favorite songs from an amazing singer/musician! Love Sarah McLachlan and you really did a great job of taking the etherealness of the original and gave it a stripped down soulfulness that I think is fantastic. I would kill for this much soul in my voice. Super job brother!

Well, dude, I hear Seal in your voice, even if you cannot. Sorry, you'll just have to live with having a beautiful and soulful tone, something others would give their right arms to have.

Messing around with a few song ideas. These are not polished at all yet and are in the early stages of song writing.

This song isn't very range-y, so I was trying to emphasize on performance and dynamics. Any and all feedback welcome.

    Hello Elise...
BTW, I fixed your header in your profile page... looks better now...
    Regarding your Review Here:
I love your productions... and your voice is beautiful. Way to go ... just keeping at it and singing, singing, singing!  Your doing great.
:57 - "Truth"... this is flat... you might want to consider modifying this vowel from "truth" to "truhth"... you can keep with the closed "oo" vowel, IF you can pull it off, but sometimes it really doesn't matter and isn't important. And sometimes, a modified vowel just sound prettier because its more open and you can get your larynx down better, etc... anyways, if it is going to be flat, then you should try the modified option.
I like the compression on your voice. Since we last heard you, it has grown in strength. It is sounding more beefy and womanly now... you have a very healthy glottis. Probably from all the singing your doing.
You have mojo... like the way emote and interpret Elise... its very artistic.
2:07 - 2:48 ::  Great vowels, great legato, good mojo, etc... good singing.. nice work!
4:06 - 4:08 ::  These open vowels are a little bit flat... open the soft palate more and tune in a little bit more ae/a ("cat") in the formant color, that will tune it up. The Formant alignment is just a pinch shallow for the frequency. Other then that, it is a really lovely shot... just tune it up... needs more "a" (cat)... just a foggy hint... don't go overboard!
Good Job Elise. I can see you are still singing a lot and your hard work is paying off!  KEEP going... if you ever want to train, let me know, I'll give you a special TMV World member deal... I would like to help you. We could work on some belt techniques to fortify your muscle strength.

Ellise, the great thing about where your at is the incredible voice you have developed at such an early age. I had to sing on stage for quite awhile before I feel I developed my onstage persona. I am naturally kinda sci-fi geek guy lol and can be very silly but to take command of the stage took me a bit. Although I can already see the improvement in that department in your case and you still have time to grow into that kind of thing Still super proud of the great work you doing and putting yourself out there in these competitions is a great way to develop your "non-vocal" sklllllllz

Beautiful Job Ellise. You really are building up quite a set list and a set of pipes. I agree with Robert I can hear the strength in your voice increasing and you are still growing as a stylist too! I am a huge fan of your talent and I expect to see you go very far.  Hope you and your family have a great Holiday.
