  1. The point is you cannot make the note while you take a breath. End the note by taking the breath. Do not stop the note then take a breath. You keep the note strong by making your body think that the note must last longer.
  2. As far as the note dropping towards the end of production. Think of the note continuing instead of letting it trail off. Practice a quick end to the note. Think that you are going to hold the note for 3 seconds but end the note by taking a breath while the note is still sounding.
  3. Thought I'd bring this back up. Haven't heard from Tommy since he posted this. Hope you are OK Tommy. :)
  4. First off on a lot of words you are whispering. When you whisper you blow a lot of air across the folds and the cords do not close completely. This is bad for the cords. You cannot sing and whisper at the same time. Do not be afraid to get loud. As a matter of fact practice singing loud. Do not be afraid of singing a wrong note. You have to first get loud enough to produce a note. After a week or so of practicing singing loud then worry about getting th correct pitch. (By loud I do not mean for you to scream. Loud enough for someone to hear you in the next room). Good Luck.
  5. :) Yeah, the growl is kinda heavy. Pretty cool though.
  6. It is not that we doubt that you actually sang this it is more like, Why? I must apologize at least for myself. With all of the different styles of music why not believe that someone wouldn't find this somewhat musical and relevant?
  7. I tried It is basically what music is all about and how it works. Do you know what a piano is? If so, the white keys are the C scale starting with the white key in front of the 2 black keys grouped together. The white key in front of the 2 black keys are always the note C.
  8. :P :/ :| Whatever you were trying needs work. If you were trying to stay on pich up there, you were off a little. If you were just seeing if you could sing in that range, with a little work you will make it. You asked for honest feedback. I did not enjoy that, but it is kinda cool that you can get up that high.
  9. Pitch means note. Scales are a set group of notes that are specific distances from each other. Chords are made up of 3 or more notes in a scale sounding at the same time. A musical "Key" is the name of the first or Root note of a scale. The Key of C is composed of the notes C D EF G A BC (I wrote it like that on purpose) C to D is one full step. E to F is a Half step. The chord C is made up of the notes C E and G (1st,3rd and 5th note in the scale). You will notice that there are 2 C's written. The second C is an octave higher than the first( The scales repeat). To sing in key means to be singing using notes made from the same scale that the music is from. I will stop here. To find out more look up basic music theory on Google.
  10. :) I like the sound of your voice. I do not speak the language so I cannot comment on diction and pronunciation. :/ I've never heard the song before so I cannot comment on how you relate to the original. :| But even though I have no Idea what you were singing about I enjoyed listening to you sing and I will listen again. :D
  11. Don't get discouraged. Practice singing with background music. The only way to improve singing in tune with music is to sing with the music. :P
  12. I do believe you have potential. Even though you have a similer sound to Michael you need to break from trying to sing like him. Even your "Stand by me" sounded as if you were trying to sing it like Michael. The only reason that I am saying this is because that sound that Michael uses in those songs actually use tension as a basis. It's sounds as if you have good reletive pitch(singing a melody line) but it also sounded that if there was a backing track you would not have been singing in key (in tune with the music) on the higher part.
  13. :) If you still have access to the original mix pump up the vocals a little. I would love to hear what you are singing about. From what I can hear it sounds pretty good. Don't let the guitar player or Drummer be responsible for the final mix. We need to hear the singer. :P
  14. There is a lot of potential there. You have a good sence of pitch. You have a pleasant sound to your voice. Keep singing. The more you sing the better you will get to know what your voice can do.
  15. Every one has times when they do not like the sound of their voice. It is natural. John Lennon did not like the sound of his voice. Neil Young has a unique sound to his voice but there are songs that he sings that wouldn't sound right without that type of voice. Sometimes the musical accompaniment will effect the perceived sound of the voice. Do not get discouraged. Keep singing.
  16. Maybe no one knows how to critique songs in French. :/ I like the concept of the song. It sounded like you were in tune with the music. I wish I could give a better responce but I just don't know how to rate this. I've heard you sing before and I like your voice.
  17. You do have a sence of pitch. That's a good thing. Don't be afraid to sing or be heard you will only get better by singing. Singing is tied to emotions. The things that your body does naturally are aspects of singing. Ex. Laughing natually ingages your diaphram and opens your throat, very useful in terms of support. Crying also opens the throat and ingages Twang and a tilted voice box to close the vocal folds and stretch them for higher pitches. Finding a coach or teacher is very helpful. If you can't afford one ask someone in your church choir or drama teacher at school. they may be able to put you in touch with someone. Good Luck.
  18. My My Hey Hey Better to burn out than Fade Away. Words to live by.
  19. I heard "Helpless" on the radio earlier and it Reminded me of you. Have you done any of Neil Young's songs? I bet you could nail them.
  20. One thing leads to another. You are basically in tune. Singing breathy, sending too much air over the cords. This may be from the feeling you are trying to convey for the song. The character. Also from this the low placement, The sound is more in your mouth than in your head. Certain vowels lead to different placements and can bring the pitch up and down, so you are basically in tune but occasionally your pitch is off. Not way off. These are all things that can be fixed. If you have a teacher now, you will understand soon what we have been telling you. Small things can make big improvements. Over all not bad. Just little things to help you.
  21. I looked up Glenn Hughes on youtube to see if I can hear similarities in your voices. The resemblance is there. Glenn puts grit or distortion in his voice but the underlying tone is close to yours.
  22. :) Are you helping to teach him? Maybe he will let you sit in on some of his lessons. Just messin' with you George. You should be proud of him. Don't forget to be proud of yourself also. You do a great job.
