Damn, Elvis. Rode is going to give you an endorsement deal to trick people into thinking they can sing like you if they buy that mic

Just listened. I didn't know the song "Story", but I saw that you also recorded "Hero", so I listened to that one too. It's good that you have the "never say never" attitude. You have plenty of time to turn singing into a career. The mistake people make a lot, and I blame the media for this, is that you either make singing into a career immediately, or you don't make it at all. They'll have you believe, if you haven't been singing since you were a kid, you've got no chance. And they'll develop these made-up stories about people to fool you. You can work on developing a different career that will support you while you're getting your voice ready for a career. You've got a lot of time.

As for your voice, there are some things that need to be worked on. You are singing as if you're talking, but the two are different. You likely haven't learned how to use your diaphragm yet. You need to learn that, because, if you keep singing through your throat, you're going to ruin your voice. Work needs to be done on pitch as well. You can fix all of that and still have a career in singing though. If you really want this, you just need to practice everyday and it's going to come. It's just like working out. Like I said up there, you have a lot of time. There's no reason why you can't develop an amazing voice by your mid-20's. Want bigger arms? Do arm exercises. Want a stronger voice? Do voice exercises. If you want to know how to practice, post a thread in the "vocal technique" section saying that you're a beginner who is trying to find out where to start.

I'm on the fence on that one. It sounds fun, maybe if it was specifically recommended to not force distortion and do another take if it's not something you can do healthily, but it does tend to be one of the vocal techniques that people would be most prone to forcing.

His family actually really embraced that kind of thing. They would harmonize while doing house chores. Everyone from the kids to the mother (not sure about Joe Jackson). You see what kind of thing that kind of support can give you? You could have one of the greatest voices in popular music!

My bad, man. I watched all of the recordings a few days ago, but forgot to reply. I'm probably the only person on this forum who even knows who Drake is, lol. You've got something coming along there. There are people that really like that way of stretching out the phrasing that you use here.  Some work should be done on pitch. Besides that, I don't know what I can really speak on, because I'm not sure what you want to be able to do with your voice. Who are your influences?

As far as Drake goes, that's a low bar to rise above singing-wise, lol.

That's very interesting. I wasn't referring quite so much to diction so much as there is some kind of timbre or, a resonance that I can imagine being really compelling in almost any circumstance, almost mercurial.

Like you could scoot off into the background and have a perfectly milky blended harmony. Step into the foreground and sing clean, raspy, high, low, falsetto sound great. I could imagine you singing sweet without sounding sappy as there is some kind of underlying substance, sing aggressive without sounding overly harsh as there is a softness or richness. Something there in the overtones.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your voice progresses. I think it would be hard to get rid of that richness and it could really help your versatility. Bono1982 told me awhile back this guy reminded him of my voice:

And you know Daryl Hall is a great singer and it's a compliment, but his timbre isn't top tier to my ears and tastes. There are a lot of singers I'd take above his for timbre preference, and you sound like you have a great foundation.

Your voice is badass, computers vacuuming or not. It sounds effortless as in the timbre is naturally appealing.

You probably have a great speaking voice too.

This is hilarious and I'm getting a huge kick out of it. Your voice is badass but it sounds on the verge of laughing with these random kids joining in. I love the depth of your timbre. Anyway, I can't even think of how to critique your voice cause I keep laughing. So while I'm in a good mood, I'll respond on other subjects:

Aaron Neville is most famous for this song, he has a great falsetto as do you:

My favorite song with a reference to children singing (although the choir may or may not include) is this version of Heaven Help Us All

The most amazingly bad song I've ever heard including children is not yours dude, The Clash actually released it for real on Sandinista covering their own song:

Ok.... Now that the children are out of my system. I'm going to try to listen and critique again....

Nope, hahaha, I started laughing again. You're an artist, you got an emotional response from me.

Not any worse than kids singing along with the Jackson 5, the Osmonds, or the DeFrancos, though you may not have heard of them. But they were popular in southern California, about 50 something years ago.

    Sounded cool, to me.

You had some Neville-esque quality going on there.

I have something a little different this time. I've been working on my improvisation a lot lately. I did this cover with somebody else and tried to fill in some of the silence and add to the song while they were singing. As some people may know, this is a pop song. I'm not really a pop guy, so I put my own spin on it.

Don't get creeped out that some little kids are singing a love song with me, LOL. I sang first and they joined me
