  1. Hey guys, as I'm practicing my lighter vocals, I'm posting a cover of Superman (Five for Fighting), a song I really like. I hope you enjoy it, and please give me some feedbacks (good or bad). Cheers!
  2. Really nice vocals and guitar playing Felipe! Man, I think I need to check out this Dream Theater band, as so many nice songs are being posted!
  3. Great Job David! I'm amazed at how the same song/arrangement can sound so different just switching the singers. I'm still learning the song, and having difficulties in the chorus, but I hope I can get it ready before this thread dies out...:(
  4. I'm speechless guitarGeorge! Really nice vocals! You guys are doing such a nice job with this song, and it seems so much fun to sing, that I'm considering to try it too. Especially because I really doubt I can get those growling lows in a convincing way. Keep on Rocking!
  5. Thanks again for the kind words Ronws. I will definitely keep on working on this song, as I intend to include it in my band's set list, as soon as I get more comfortable with my new voice, and reshape our song list. I agree with you regarding ballads being tougher than hard rock songs. Cheers man!
  6. Wow! Good job Keith! I just got scared at such a difficult melody line. As I never heard the original song before, I was wondering if the light-heady parts could not benefit of more weight. Great job man! Keep on Rocking!
  7. Hey Ronws, so glad you did stop by and listened to the song, as we were talking about this earlier on another thread. Yeah, I definitely felt something different when I sang the last 2 choruses. Man, I can't tell you how pumped I am with these results I'm getting with my singing. Although I'm still getting used to my new range, I found out that this is not the hardest part of the job anymore, as now I am becoming more aware of the nuances of the songs, and how much more in control I need to Be throughout the song. Thanks again for the kind words man, and keep on rocking!
  8. Hey Olem, thanks for listening and the comments! Yeah, I noticed some of the pitchy parts. And I think you are right regarding the improvement with practice. I've been practicing/recording this song for last than a week. Although I've been practicing it while playing the acoustic guitar for a little longer. The nicest thing is that in the last practice/recording attempt I could notice that on the final choruses I was sounding so much better and much more in control than in the first two choruses. Anyways, I am so happy that I'm being able to achieve this results with this type of songs in so little time, just because I figure it out how to use my full range. Thanks again! :)
  9. Hey Guys, this is my vocal cover of Winger, Miles Away. I know it is still far from professional level, but I cannot describe how happy I am of learning at this time in my life that I could sing this type of songs (that I really love) just learning the right vocal techniques and practicing. I always thought, and always been told that one had to be born with this gift. Thank you so much Felipe for sending me the backing track. Please let me know what you guys think, good and bad, but no need to tell me I don't sound like Kip Winger...
  10. Yeah! It just occurred to me! I like David Coverdale, so why not try to sing Open Arms like he would do it? This way you would get away of trying really hard not to sound as the original singer.
  11. Hey Xamedhi, here's an idea that just occurred me and may be a nice practice for all of us who have problems finding the backing tracks for the songs from bands/singers we admire: what if you pick a song you like and try to sing it as your favorite singer, in your case, Jorn Lande. Don't you think it could be a really nice practice? Cheers and Keep on Rocking!
  12. Hey Xamedhi, I liked your tone overall, but I wish there was a backing track, as I don't know this song. Also, maybe it is because there was no backing track, but to me it sounded like you need a bit more power in the higher parts of the song. My band used to play Jorn's version of "Feel like making love" (Bad Company). Good job overall man. Keep on Rocking!
  13. Hey man, first of all, please don't think I'm some kind of expert in singing. We are in the same journey of self-discovery and singing! I think you did an excellent job shedding weight off your voice, and your timbre really suits this song. Being a "semi-professional chest puller" myself I can relate to what you say about having a deep/strong voice. But I actually found out that my lack of technique had me fooled thinking I had a deep/low voice all these years. As I said in the beginning, I think you did a good job with this cover, although you can still improve it. I may be wrong (usually I am), but I think in the first verses you sound like you were whispering bordering falsettoish. It didn't bother me as the song progressed and it sounded really good in the chorus. I don't know if you were still having problems in that part trying to sound light, but you can just keep working to be able to sing lighter/softer without flipping to falsetto, as I am improving in this area building the muscle memory for this light coordination. Great job overall! Keep on Rocking!
  14. Hey guys, I liked it! I think that the vocals were a bit louder than the backing track, and as Bay_Harbor_Butcher is a great belter, I think if you lowered the vocals a bit, it would still cut through easily. I could not pick it up on a quick listen, but were the vocals in harmony or singing the same melody? Great job overall.
  15. Nice cover, as always, Felipe. For me it was a nice surprise the way you lightened up your voice without sounding girlish. Very nice indeed! Keep on Rocking my fellow Brazilian!
  16. Wow really cool Rn'B feel you added to the song! Awesome voice for this tune. I heard before the DJ Sammy's version, but if recall correctly, it was sung by a woman, right? I think you made this song yours. Congrats! Keep on Rocking!
  17. Wow, very nice Felipe! Clean and controlled, but with lots of feeling! Keep on Rocking!
  18. I liked it! I think your voice tone is a great match for this piano version. But to make it even better, you could improve the pronunciation of a few words. I was wondering in which key you played the song. Good job man, Keep on Rocking!
  19. Nice work ronws! You need to get the backing track for this song, because every time you sang "all right boys" I was waiting for the lead guitars, bass and drums to kick in! Keep on Rocking!
  20. I really liked your cover of More than Words because you are using a thicker voice to sing a very soft song. I think you should pay more attention to the transitions to falsetto as they are creating a very noticeable contrast. You just need to keep practicing. Keep on Rocking!
