Hello Joshua, I wasn't super familiar with this song but I have heard it a few times. I love to see young people with passion to sing. I do think your overall tone is pleasant but could benefit from more breath support. As Robert said just a smidge pitchy at times but still your emotional connection to this song kind of carries you through this. I have one observation at the ending of a good many of your phrases just as a sustaining word is ending your voice pitches up just a bit almost like a hiccup. I am not sure if this is a stylistic choice or not. It wasn't bad but I noticed it after about the 5th time or so. If it is an artistic choice maybe mix it up a bit with some cleanly ending words. Singing the end of phrases is equally important as starting them well. Great job I would say. If you are serious about singing (and you appear to be) a online course or private lessons added to your passion and PRACTICE will yield amazing results I am sure.

Right on Robert, my voice sounded VERY young even into my early 20's. There is another person on this forum who posted an excellent version of Welcome to the Jungle from Guns and Roses. Very good BUT it sounded like a teenager and he probably is but much like Leann Rimes (not stylistically) you are very mature vocally for your age and that is a FANTASTIC gift to have. It should be noted also that I only had to shave once a month until I was 23 so I was a late bloomer lol.  Also I would love to hear you tackle something outside your comfort zone. I challenge myself constantly in my original compositions as well as my choice of cover tunes. I actually have a harder time singing the more "flat' sounding singers like Sting or singers with "lazy diction". I choose covers sometimes just to test my technique and to show me weak areas that I need to address and of course after doing all that, those areas in turn become part of  my comfort zone. "Singing is being better by being better prepared" Try everything. That being said, how about a rocker I bet Robert would love to hear one as well as me. Maybe not the usual but don't be afraid to mix it up.

Very nice job!, Joyous and smoooooooooth. Loved your runs and adlibs you do them so smooth and natural. Sometimes that kinda thing can get  SOOOO overdone and so SINGY for just showing off. Yours seem to be an emotional extension of the vocal melody, good job making it your own. I could seen how much you were enjoying yourself. I hate nothing more than a singer who isn't into the music.

I really like this song and decided to cover it. The high notes are a little tough for me.
I hope you enjoy it, I would love any comments or critiques!

Very good song and you have very appealing tone as a singer. That said I would differ to Roberts advice. You have a super nice tone but could develop  into a really SUPERIOR singer with a little hard work. I remember being told by an old teacher that I had a good voice but I could have a GREAT voice if I was willing to work. Hard work is always good advice but not always what we want to hear, lol. I would say you are off to a good start as having a nice and unique tone is a singers secret weapon and you are well armed. Nice composition as well. Your voice also conveys a very intimate quality that works perfect on this type of song.

Nice job!! Aside from anything else what I hear is CONVICTION which to me is the number one skill a singer needs beyond his technical abilities and you are selling this song. I totally agree with Robert you would benefit from some subtle distortion and I don't want to offend you but your tone sounds "young" but very good as well. My voice didn't finally settle until my 20's. Your pitch was very good and I liked how you varied up the melody from the GnR version ever so slightly. That's my favorite way to do a cover, Love the song, Learn the words and basic melody, then Let it out! Get into it and don't worry about being an exact duplicate of the original. Can't wait to hear more from you.

Ok, I just posted a song by Billy Joel where I mentioned not focusing on the "Money Notes" now this song is the opposite lol. I love Journey and Steve Perry but my voice has always had a hard time doing his material primarily because he sings in MY passagio area almost EXCLUSIVELY yikes! Anyway it has taken me lots of years of practice to get the control and support to sing this song. This recording is not perfect and I am NOT Steve Perry but I was really trying to capture the Color and Flavor of what he does with his voice.

I agree with Robert. The recording quality makes it hard to determine your overall voice quality. But you seem to have a real desire and passion for singing. I was by NO means a natural singer when I started and I have many recordings that I would love to burn and bury somewhere lol but then I listen back and I can still hear the heart that I gave it and over time the Pitch, Range, and control came. I am not done learning by far but I can assure you that Robert is correct when he says it's 80 percent effort haha God I wish that wasn't the case but then few things worth it are easy. I would encourage you to continue your vocal journey and never get discouraged. If you work with a vocal teacher or buy one of the many home study courses available I am sure that you can be the singer you want to be.  Also you should try to get yourself a basic recording set up. Karaoke tracks are plentiful and easy to obtain and a cheap mic and you should be on your way to capturing your voice more accurately.

Nice track overall. I enjoyed the catchiness of the song. I write originals and know how hard it is to write your own composition. Lyrics are always a treat lol as well as coming up with a good melody. I think that maybe the background vocals needed a little more work but I applaud you for creating your own song. Lets hear some more songs from you Pekka.

Thanks for the kind words Robert. I actually spoke with you on the phone last Friday as I am interested in your course. I was a student of Al Koehn in Tampa, Florida who was also a student of Maestro Kyle so some of what I do is probably based on certain techniques you are teaching as well. I do feel you could help me go further with some of your own innovations and refinements that take voice into the 21st century. I was indeed trying to capture some of the "Meatloaf" quality on this track. When I cover a tune I usually do like to try to channel some of the core of how the song was delivered without hopefully sacrificing my own voice. I do also enjoy Theatrical music so I probably do tend to go there, in fact it is harder for me to sing more monotone type singers or "flatter" types of singers.  I appreciate the thumbs up on the A4 belt as it is indeed NOT easy lol.

Here is one of my favorite Meatloaf songs. This is an older recording and I have better equipment now and I think I can probably do it better justice now but time is always my worst enemy so here it is.

Hi Anthony, I am using twang on the chorus as well as thinning the sound a TON lol. It requires me to actually relax myself and not over project and blow a ton of air. I use twang and compression and focus on a bright tone and intensity not just looking for volume. I am going to be getting the 4 Pillars course. I was trained by a teacher who was also a student of Maestro David Kyle and I am probably using a fair amount of the same techniques for my basic voice production. But I feel that Robert should be able to push my voice a bit more and he seems to have so many modern tricks that I want to explore.

Funny you should mention The Phantom, That was one of the first musicals I bought the recording of. I loved the musical and Michael Crawfords voice especially. I have recorded some of those songs although I have lost them over the years. Maybe it's time to do some new recordings of those. Thanks again for the kind words Bono, I enjoyed your singing very much.
