  1. Here is an updated version that has all but the last verse / chorus - I want to do something different for the last verse, while keeping the same chorus. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12075292&q=hi&newref=1
  2. The chorus is a bit pitchy, but overall I love it - just as I love Helloween.
  3. I am writing today. Here is what I have so far. Although I posted the entire song, there are only vocals until after the second bridge. I was going for an alice in chains style thing. What do ya think so far? http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12074002&q=hi&newref=1
  4. You do have an awesome metal tone. Aside from the slight pitchy parts in the chorus, it sounds great to me.
  5. Sounds too nasal . Like you are singin through your nose. From what I understand, and I am no expert, there shouldn't be a constant flow of air from your nose when you sing. Sometimes, to get the right feel, it is ok to allow air to pass out of your nose, but not all the time. So, if you are doin this all the time, try to correct it. Also, you are constantly changing the key if the song - there was no backing track in the mix so I assume its acapella. I find that it is almost normal to have slight variations in key without a backing track. There is a lot of air in your voice - which also needs to be addressed. Check out the technique section for a few good posts about adduction and support / breathing. Do you have a coach or teacher? If not, I suggest getting one if you can. It will greatly reduce the time it will take you to build a good foundation and kill bad habits.
  6. I would have liked to hear a "cleaner" chorus. Sounds like Jens sang the main line id the chorus doubled, but it doesn't need it cause his voice is so awesome. And there is a weird delay in there that could be tweaked a little better. Don't pay any attention to me though, I just knit pick mixing cause its what my second job is.
  7. I like the song. I think the vocal mix could have been better (my opinion of course) - can u email me the souls of silence backing track ?
  8. I liked it. The one thing I would suggest is to use some different vowel modifications - for example, instead of singing the word "night" like you say it in normal speech, sing it "nuhght" replacing I with uh.
  9. This song is so difficult to sing . I think you covered it nicely. I especially liked the sound you have in the bridges.
  10. Wow. Underneath that horrible mix is a good voice.. I am sure of it. Vocals are clipping, and it sounds like you are recording it with a earphone crammed into a pot of boiling water. Clean this up so we can listen to it lol. No offense man..
  11. Another Kamelot Cover off the new CD. Trying slowly to get stronger mid range notes. This is where I am at with it. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12048373&q=hi&newref=1
  12. Since I cannot sing this song yet, I'll post my friend John Wests version. Chris Caffery from Savatage / TSO on guitar. FYI Max, I like you version better for many reasons, but I do not like the interpretation of the verse on either lol. Anyway, here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xii7EV9IYM
  13. I don't hear a nasal sound, more a closed mouth sound - like maybe you are not opening your mouth wide enough, or you are maybe allowin your larynx to be too high. It's a tad pitchy in places too, but overall I hear improvement from the last song you posted. (Which seems like forever ago lol)
  14. Pretty kewl man. My only critiwue would be to ease off the guitar effects and add some to the vocals. The guitar line starts to turn to mush when you play a couple cords fast. A good rule is if you guitar keeps playing 2 seconds after you stop, it might be too much Very romantic also. I bet your wife was pretty happy to hear it
  15. I want that backing track. If like to hear a little less distortion in your version . I like it, but it sounds to me like it is either full blown distortion or clean. Something In The middle would be more musical IMO / but good job, it is a hard song. Robert makes it look easier than it really is lol.
  16. I wanted to learn this one for Karaoke night - but just don't have the skill for this one, nor do I have the right timbre for it. I tried anyway. This song kicked my as* from start to finnish. I even got hoarse while singing it. I had to take a 5 minute break before trying the end - which is a nightmare. Maybe in another year I'll try again. But for now, I am scrapping the idea of singing this one. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12040399&q=hi&newref=1
  17. Are you hearing the gritty weird thing in my voice? I am trying to get a cleaner sound without that gritty weirness. Not sure what to do to get it lol
  18. I sang both those songs back to back with no break - the Kamelot one first. All that after 15 minute warm up, octave sirens , and 5th sirens
  19. Here are 2 covers. I did these because they are , for the most part, pretty high. I sang these as powerful as I could (except parts that are supposed to not be belted)- and it was tireing! Both are one take, so I am sure there are mistakes lol. Anyway, the reason I did these is because sometimes I can sing a clean passagio note, and sometimes I can't - and I have not isolated wtf is going - so maybe one of you can. Faithfully - Journey cover - http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12038688&q=hi&newref=1 Karma - Kamelot cover - http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12038684&q=hi&newref=1 Sorry in advance for any dissonance that might be kicking around in these lol.
  20. Marcus, Hoarse is exactly how it feels - whithout the pain of course. It feels like I am losing my voice when I go up past f4 ish.
  21. I like it! Ya sound like Klaus sometimes / which is pretty damn awesome bro
  22. All our songs have bass lines all the way through lol.
  23. What I do when I play and sing at the same time (I play bass and sing in a band) is to learn the bass part with my eyes closed to a click track. Once I can do that, I can sing along pretty well. Good job on this song .
