  1. This song pretty much my covers my entire vocal range in chest voice; it goes down to my lower notes and my highest reliable note (D4) so I feel like it's a good song to practice with and get critique on. Thanks in advance. http://picosong.com/mp6B/
  2. Man at first I was so excited to hear such a strong impression and then I realized it was just too damn close to be real. This is just sad man, you would have gotten more respect by doing a bad impersonation than this.
  3. Great work man, I'm flattered. Not much advice to give because this is beyond my scope of technique knowledge.
  4.   I love those Electric Light Orchesta-esque harmonies at 0:49
  5.   When those English guys sing it's anything goes when interpreting the lyrics. LOL
  6.   Hell yeah, that's awesome.  I don't like to call them oldies though because I think music is timeless.  Whether it was created last week or seventy years ago all that matters is that it invokes something special in you.  Even though I use the term myself sometimes, I feel like saying "oldies" implies you gotta be old to enjoy it.  In that case we'd have to call new music "newies." Just my thoughts.  Thanks for your comment.
  7.   Haha I get your point, well I'm not just an oldies guy by any means.  I like all kinds of music, including metal and prog, but I don't know too many artists in those genre and my voice is not to a place yet where it can handle those genres.  Maybe one day when my technique is awesome I'll do a "Turbo Lover" cover but until that day I know you, Killerku, and surely some others appreciate some of the more classic songs I like to do.
  8.   Hahaha no way man.. when my voice rocks less it REALLY rocks less.  I am both a good singer and the worst singer of all time depending on what range you want to stick me in.  Even this song is actually pushing my boundaries a bit and you can tell by the way most of my notes are pretty high larynxed. It's not a stylistic choice but rather what we talked about.  At some point I just naturally hike it up by instinct by C4 or so.  This song is basically all D4 + besides a few dips.     So yeah.. if you want to hear me doing a cover that's less suitable than my voice for this it won't be very pretty hahaha.
  9.   I live in California now.  Your comment means a lot to me as it is truly a great compliment to say you were able to reminisce to this tune.  Thank you.
  10. Not too bad man, this is definitely a hard as %#@! song but it definitely seems well within your grasp.  Just keep working through each line slowly and focus on each and every detail of the original recording.  Beyond that I am not really in a place to give any technique tips for where you're singing this at.  The only thing constructive I can say technique wise is to try and keep your lines more legato so you get that nice flow to lyrics.  I think that's the only thing keeping parts like the really heady stuff on the beginning from sounding professional.     Anyway, nice job man keep up good work.  Was a cool listen for sure.
  11.   Thanks bro, my voice went a little bit twangier/brighter than I wanted to sing this but you know as well as anybody that I'm sorting that out haha.  Don't think I've forgotten working those dopey sounds to stop shooting my larynx through the roof when I get higher haha.    You should check out the newer version though because it has better sound quality, sadly not panned to the left like the original.  I tried for a more straight double track.  Thanks for listening man, peace.
  12. Alright guys, I redid this cover I think it sounds much better.  I felt like I should give more effort into a cover I posted here so I redid.  Sound quality is also much better.  Still struggled with the F4 but it's better this time round.     http://picosong.com/VUVi/
  13.   Haha, well the backing is all Karaoke.  I wish I could say it was all me, I'd feel much prouder. Thank you for listening though.
  14. Check out my new cover guys, was a lot of fun to make!  It's got some of those damned F4s in it.. they were tough but I pulled them off decent enough.    http://picosong.com/VUVi/   edit: I know there are some problems with this cover, it's definitely not to my potential.  I did both the tracks on first take and just rolled with it because it was damn fun.  Feel free to call out any issues you might be able to help with though.  I'm already aware of where all the pitch problems are though.     edited with better version of cover
  15. Cool original man, keep up the good work.  Would like to hear an intense belty song from you as well.  I really liked your "Child in Time" cover.
  16. Ooh Baby baby is a great favorite of mine.  My honest criticism of your performance there is that your pitch and tone was really solid throughout but your diction could use some work in the first verses.  The words sound quite muddy throughout there but you get much better when you sing lower in the next part of the song, definitely Marvin Gaye reminiscent.  Keep up the good work, and keep practicing.
  17. Hahahaha, sounds great man.  Even if it was more just a vamp/jam kinda thing, it worked great.  I will trust your advice even more now hearing that you definitely have the chops to prove what you say.  Keep up the good work man.
  18.   The first part of the first verse is quite off in my opinion, then it redeems itself after that and the pitch problems are more subtle from there until the part you mention.  But yeah, listening back again I really enjoy your timbre throughout this.  You definitely have this song in your range, you just need to work out the finer details and it will really shine.
  19. Sounds pretty nice, I'm jealous of that upper range.  Also, that starting falsetto was pure as hell.  Sounded beautiful.  As others said some parts dragged and could be more refined but overall it was a great interpretation in my opinion.
  20. Tone is really nice for most of it, but your pitch is off a lot.  If you can get your pitch down you will have a really nice instrument there.
  21.   LOL, yeah man I'm actually wearing some right now! Lady friends are overrated! But in all seriousness, thanks for the tips, I can definitely try that out.  I've been meaning to get one but just haven't done so yet.     Thanks man, I am quite happy with my chest voice at this point in my vocal training.  I just gotta gotta smooth out my breaks and I'll be a happy guy.  Luckily, I feel I am making good progress so I am not too worried there.
  22.   I run it through mixcraft, and thanks for your compliment man.  It's not too pricey either so it's nice.       You are a huge Beatles fan hunh?  You are talking to the ultimate Beatles fanboy of all time man.  You could say any album name and I could tell you the track listing all the way through, who sings what notes on the song, who is doing what on the harmony, etc, etc.  I have to agree with you that some 60s mixes are a bit strange, but that style of producing has grown on me in a way.
  23.   Thanks bro, and nice idea.  I haven't checked for that option yet but I certainly will.  I'm using an AKG Perception microphone run through a scarlett Focusrite pre-amp.  Usually the quality is really good but for some reason as of late the recording quality has been coming through tinny and without depth.  I am an amateur producer though so more than likely I'm just messing up some simple things that could be fixed.
  24.   This is exactly what I've been practicing for the last few months and I can already notice that part of my range is evening out more.  I have good hope for the future at the moment based off the results I've been getting.  Your advice reminds me that the main reason I believe I've struggled to get my range up is because until just recently I've always approached my passagio by spreading the vowel and adding weight instead of dropping it.  I think I just need to practice a little bit quieter on smaller vowels for awhile and things will start coordinating much better.
