  1. first bit of constructive criticism - get an avatar. It's in the intro materials when you come into this forum.
  2. Yeah, I don't care about the castrati. Let go of the gay thing. You wanted an opinion, so you got one. Sing as your voice can do. So, do you hate your voice or do you just wish it was lower or sound like some other singer? I don't have advice for that but others here might. I have a high and light voice and I like it just fine. I sang "I believe in a thing called love" in the original key. Maybe your friends should stop by and call me gay. I am not gay, but I could take the supposed "insult" and keep right on singing high and light.
  3. Really good tone. Pitchy, as a bit flat in spots. Last one was about 2 min 4 sec. I am not sure if it is a vowel problem or just a momentary loss of the vocal line. Sometimes, you think about the words and forget the note.
  4. Very good, much like a professional singer. Probably the only thing not pro was the camera work. Though visuality clarity was gone, there was just enough left to tell that you were human and not a gray alien. That and the jerky movements of the camera. Even on shows like NYPD Blues where jerky cameras were part of the look, the actor of the moment never left the screen. The movement was meant to mimick the view of actually being there, rather than swung around as if on a merry-go-round. But the singing was good. What is fastrack?
  5. You look a lot like John Lennon. Anyway, sounds like a nice slice of punk.
  6. Stagefright - It is about you worrying all about you. So, stop it. Do not assume others are expecting you to fail. Focus on the song, not what you imagine people think of you. Some people think I am great, others might use language that would burn the ears off your head. Depends on which day and who is talking. Think of your voice as an instrument.
  7. Yes, that is head voice and you make it more chesty with resonance. secondly, what is wrong with sounding gay? Are you saying that Obama is wrong for freeing the gays from oppression? In reality, I have had several friends who were gay, and smart, and hard-working. so, what is the the problem with gay? What is the problem with sounding gay? Why do you care? Why do you friends care? My voice also sounds like a woman. When I was a teenager, people on the phone would address me as ma'am. Problem is, I am really tall and big and strong and fast, even as an old man. I am the ironic opposite of Bruce / Caitlyn Jenner. I look like a man and am glad to be a man and sound, at times, like a woman. Where as she is considered a woman (pre-op) and still has that manly and low voice while speaking at the Espy awards. So, if your friends still have a problem with it, send them my way. I will fix it to where they never have problems. Again.
  8. Best phrase in the thread "a Prince style song, which is almost a genre itself." So true.
  9. I like the Foo Fighters. I trust GSoul's selection process as I did last time, even when it chose differently from the songs I suggested. I think G is using the poll at the top of the thread, where "Hero" is in the lead.
  10. I approached with trepidation. It is easy for a lot of people to mess this one up. But you did well. For one thing, I liked the mix. Good use of delay. Funny thing, your voice made me think of Jack Russel from Great White. That is not a bad thing. Your pronunciation and articulation were good and I like the subtle liberties you took with the vocal line. This is how to cover a song.
  11. "There goes my hero, watch him as he goes. There goes my hero, he's ordinary..." I want to write songs like Dave when I grow up. (Actually, I already grow'd up. But man, can he write some songs. And pick a drummer. You will not find another like Taylor Hawkins.)
  12. So, you have changed your login back to Gsoul82? Okay. Perhaps I should ask for a program that shows the major scenes and acts so that I can keep up.
  13. Excellent, Felipe, and nice to see you playing an instrument, too. I can see you doing that at some campfire and drawing a crowd.
  14. Viva Brasil! You are just a really good singer, Felipe. Training, talent, whatever. You are always good and your craft is worth the applause you get. I think that is because, in addition to whatever technical work you are doing for singing, and even recording, you bring the emotion. It is a bit undefinable and it's okay that the feeling is hard to pin down. Again, Bravo, Felipe.
  15. I imagine you have sang it a few times before today. I liked it but a word of advice on mixing. There is a lot of hiss on the vocal track. You might want to put a noise removal on that or a gate One other tip. On pronunciation. Gorky Park. The g is hard, almost like a k. And the k is hard, too. That is, if you listen to how Klaus is singing it, that is the correct pronunciation, regardless of how it is spelled. I can't remember the original spelling and the last time I spent any time with the cyrillic alphabet was back in the late 80's.
  16. Whatever you think is best. And background or doubling vocals is still the old school preferred way to thicken the voice in the chorus. It was just a matter of timing. If you have a way to time-shift just those parts or record them shorter, it would probably line up. Another thing I learned about background vocals. Go really soft on the consonants. Let the lead vocal have all the consonants. If the BF vocals have strong consonants, they will conflict with the lead, even if timing is good.
  17. I really liked it. Editing wise, you might want to shorten the background vocals. Their timing is different than the lead and what sounds like an off pitch spot is just an unfortunate coincidence of the two. But you are a good songwriter and blessings to your very talented uncle. You should do this some more. A lot.
  18. I have an ear for language and accents. I can tell the difference of assorted accents in spanish, for example. Someone from Mexico sound different than someone from Central America, and a south american sounds different from both of those. That was pretty cool. You
  19. Purple Rain or anything Prince does would be the trifecta of challenges. A bit of every style in there, and that sweet and delicious Minnesota Funk.
  20. That was pretty cool. You have some kind of accent but a few times, you get close to Brett's midwestern drawl. More importantly, you know the song and how to have fun with it
  21. tuvan throat singing. I can't do it but it would be different.
  22. Bravo, Bono. I liked it. It felt like you wrote the song.
  23. I liked it a lot. You have the right kind of voice for this music. Perhaps you should be made an honorary irishman.
  24. Excellent musikman. That was a delight. Not only do you sound like him, but you sing with the same passion. One of the things I have always admired about Meatloaf. It is all in the voice. Not really any pyro or props. Thanks for linking in the video, too.
