Motley crue Without you cover
ronws replied to Simpan24's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
Who cares if it sounds quiet? Did you know that Vince Neil had a microphone and a professional audio engineer making him sound huge? True enough. They are called recording professionals. -

Work on your head voice. Get way lighter than you are, right now. Bringing up too much mass is weighing you down, so to speak. -
This is the first song I remember hearing, as a toddler on the couch, watch my mother do housework. It still affects me to this day. Bravo, Geno.

I liked it too. So, I guess I don't know what theater-types mean by belting. -

People are Strange lazy cover
ronws replied to Jeremy Mohler's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
I liked it. One of my favorites from the Doors. When it comes on the radio, I am powerless to stop myself from singing along with it. -
Pretty good stab at it and it sounds close to the original, actually.

review my singing Working on Runs and Falsetto
ronws replied to Hunter Button's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
Breathing for singing is different than breathing for speaking. So, don't speak the lines, sing them. We most often speak on residual air pressure we brought in from inhalation. As opposed to singing, where you need to slow down the escape of breath. And then, allow the note to resonate where it needs to be. It's a physics thing but basically, a higher note needs a smaller space for proper resonation.- 6 replies

August 2015 Gospel Challenge: Amazing Grace
ronws replied to Gsoul82's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
I really liked this one. I am partial to the Elvis sound, which you seem to have as easy as others breathe. -
I agree with Robert about the time thing. Years or even months is not the thing. Proper training from that start, that will always accelerate learning and provide the proper learning. And I can truly say, having been in this forum over 5 years, there is no lack of explanation of elucidation of Robert's concepts, especially in his program. And yes, a good thing about his program, something that keeps him working all the time, is to imagine every way to explain something. And then find yet another way. That is cool.

sincerity is an illusion. What will give you more control is let your voice resonate so that you are more easily able to learn to manage breath. From your description, and it does sound like it, anything about E4 or D4 sounds like a shout to you, like going full blast, pedal to the floor? Which, yes, is okay or thrash metal or something hard-driven and loud all the time. You are wanting finesse. Not much I can tell you through words. I think if you can learn to manage the breath and take half a load of the folds, they will eventually become a little more flexible. It may take a while. I am not a teacher of singing but I have been singing a while.

I could hear them. Man, it looks like you've been in a fight. I hope the other guy looks worse. It sounded like you were singing okay, Are you wanting to sing softer? You said you were singing metal, which would explain the loud notes you have now.

Mercyful Fate - Black Funeral
ronws replied to Simpan24's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
I likes me some Mercyful Fate and admire the craft of King Diamond. However, your recording mix has a big problem. The high parts are okay and audible. But the lower parts are nearly inaudible. Is it possible for you to re-mix the recording so we can hear all the lyrics? -
Good point, MDEW, on interpretation. In a live performance of NIN, Trent sounded more threatening. Cash sound more remorseful, which is the feeling I had when I sang it. I have hurt people, either intentionally or through my own fumbling messes. So, what you bring to the song can influence the song.

Wanna be able to sing high without shouting
ronws replied to Simpan24's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
From what I can hear, you are not baritone, certainly not bass. They may be calling you that because they need one. Or, they could be right and maybe I am wrong. Either way, yes, focus on head voice rather than yelling. -
Thanks, Adolph. It shows up on the main screen for the review section A person submitting a song needs to provide a link to play the song in either a streaming player or a player link, such as youtube, soundcloud, and box, with a link to to player page for that file and to NOT provide links that require a file download. So, if someone feels they did not know that is required, all I can say is to read more carefully.

Wanna be able to sing high without shouting
ronws replied to Simpan24's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
Judging by the timbre of your voice, you are not baritone. And not being able to get through the passagio without yelling does not mean you are a baritone. It means you are yelling to get through the passagio area. So, stop yelling. You need to start out light and let your higher notes be light for a while. You may think it won't sound "manly" for a while .After a while, your lightness will build back into strength. Also, that was not a siren. It was a vocalise with the starting note ascending up the major scale. -
feedback on the new bluetooth Karaoke Soundbar, unlimited song library
ronws replied to boxtiq's topic in VOCAL GEAR
There are a few singers here who do karaoke with some regularity. However, they usually go to clubs where someone else has the machine, rather than us singers having one to bring. In fact, we are more likely to record at home, or perform live with a band, not really having the money to spare on a karaoke machine. My favorite machine, if I were to get one was highlighted by our benefactor, Robert Lunte. He showed off a rig that you could practice with and record to an SD card. That was pretty cool. Does this system you are selling offer the ability to record the efforts? -
Help with Weak / Unstable voice
ronws replied to Miki B's topic in REVIEW YOUR SINGING - SHARE YOUR SINGING
That is awesome to read. I have also heard of professional speakers using singer training to condition their voice and allow them to speak for whatever length of time without wearing out. They follow exactly what you were talking about doing. I really am glad you got if figured out and solved the problem. And if you keep that as a basic regimen, you will sound like you are in your twenties for the rest of your life. -
This is a hit song. Seriously, it is as good as anything out there. Definitely record it pro and and release it, either on your own label or with a label. You have mentor who owns a recording studio? Alright then, quit pretending you have never heard of the music and recording business and get a lawyer and get moving. Trust me, you are young but it goes by in the blink of an eye. You need to do something about now, while you still have health and youth. Reminds of one of my favorite lines from "It's a Wonderful Life." "Ah, youth! It's wasted on the wrong people!"
